There was certainly a keeper there, it was just a shocking back four in front of him though... none of them were on the same page, I even said before the game on my twitter page that it was a head in hands moment reading that teamsheet.

Both CBs are squad players at best, the LB was a reserve player and the RB Jenkinson is a 19 year old who has never played first team football in the premier league before.

Did you see Paul Merson before the game...he pretty much predicted the outcome (though not as many goals) by the team sheet.  Surely when your team is that depleted and you have no chance of winning you have to go out to make it as hard as possible for the opposition even if it means having your whole team camped in your half behind the ball!

It was even better after it

And that is the crucial question Croc. It's not just the transfer fees, it's also funding the player for the length of his contract.

For instance; we were told in Jan that AW had 20 million to spend and there were grumbles that he didn't spend it. Bob Wilson came out and said a couple of weeks back that the 20 million was not only to pay the transfer fee(s) of any additions but also all costs associated with the transfer (agents fees, resettlement costs etc) and, most importantly, the players wages for the duration of the contract.

Now if a typical contract is 3 or 4 years and you are playing a player 50k a week then that would eat up 71/2 to 10 million of the money.

Our players are not well paid in comparison to players at Chelsea, both Mancs and the top Spanish clubs. We can get into a whole other argument about whether the time has come for a wages cap. Who can't live on 50 grand a week FFS?

And Meaty, most transfers are not paid up front - we are still waiting for payments from Farcelona for Titi and Hleb, God only knows when the barstewards will pay us for Cesc. So we may not have the money in the bank and in any event there is no guarantee that Kronke will let the boss spend it

Haha - yep, hatred towards Chelsea is certainly something I’m familiar with, and have been since experiencing it first hand during the 80’s at grounds up and down the country.

What is wrong with those players? Might not be the most higly rated players in the league but they have certainly proved their worth since joining us.

Also rumours we have Craig Bellamy back at Anfield, happy with this, a good player to bring off the bench and always has a bit of fire in his belly for the task in hand.

Not proven verdict in for John Wilson ,he was charged with an attack on Neil Lennon during the Hearts/Celtic game .

A football fan has been cleared of assaulting Celtic Football manager, Neil Lennon, earlier this year.

Hearts supporter John Wilson, 26, was accused of a sectarian attack on Hoops boss Lennon as the two sides played in a crucial Scottish Premier League game at Tynecastle stadium in Edinburgh.

A jury at Edinburgh Sheriff Court said the assault charge against Wilson, from the city, was not proven.

However, Wilson was convicted of breaching of the peace on May 11.

The court previously heard claims, denied by Wilson, that he had called Mr Lennon a "fenian b******" at the SPL clash.

However, Wilson was cleared of making a sectarian remark during the incident after jurors deleted the allegation from the breach of the peace charge.

The jury of eight men and seven women took two-and-a-half hours to return their verdicts after a three-day trial.

The decision came despite Wilson telling the court that he had lunged at Mr Lennon and struck him on the head during the incident.

Ngog is a good player I always felt a bit of first team action would improve him but he rarely got that at Anfield. I think most people stopped rating him when he was being played as Torre's 1st backup when he was injured which was grossly unfair on David. He should do well for Bolton. Always like to see ex players doing well (except Torres and Owen obviously.)

Absolutley gutted about Meireles leaving, but quite surprised he handed in a transfer request. I'm guessing his lack of first team football was the motivator esepcially with European International football coming up, but I don't think Chelsea is necessarily the best move for him. I'm especially annoyed he moved there after Torres. But this 11th hour move aside I'm happy with Liverpool's dealings.

Chelsea can just eff right off.
