Darkest Hour - very, very good. Should have been given a huge budget.

A sequel is well deserved. Watch the extras - it shows how it is just the begining.

I thought Thor and Capt. America were OK. I watched them mainly because of the tie in to The Avengers Assembled.

Darkest Hour was OK too, not a brilliant film IMO, but worth a watch. I'm not sure how much mileage there would be in a sequel Saint.

Did you watch the extras - its in there that its shown how the problem esculates and the world starts pulling together.

Sheds another dimension into it

If I am perfectly honest no, mainly because I did not watch it in a physical format. There were no extras included, so I am at a slight disadvantage there Saint.

I've just had a quick look on IMDB because they list films which have been 'green lit' but not necessarily in production. As yet I have not found any sign of a part 2, but given the way film companies work I would be surprised if there was not a second instalment. It grossed $64 million world wide, but cost $30 million to make.

THE FACILITY - rubbish, don't waste yer money.

Bunch of volunteers agree to medical experiments at a remote 'facility'.

Now ... allow your mind to wander ... it all goes wrong.

Yep - that's the story ... with a feeble ending.

Rather pointless, colour-by-numbers medical 'horror' which could easily have had a 15 rating.

LIFE OF Pi ... or do you pronounce it 'pea'.

If you are undecided you could watch the movie whilst eating pie and peas

Yes i am weird, but ... hey

This movie is visually a masterpiece, truly magnificent.

The story, always engaging but the ending rather an 'aah' more than the 'wow' i had hoped for.

As such it more or less tails off and left me a little crestfallen after such a breathtaking journey. It deserved more of a memorable conclusion.

Thor was surprisingly good, Spider Man, much less so!

Agreed Carnelian - I could not see the point of The Amazing Spider-Man. It was not a whole lot different from the film in the other trilogy.

I have just come back from seeing the new Star Trek film Into Darkness. I went for 2D as I'm not a big fan of 3D, although it is in IMAX at my cinema.

I'm a fan of the Star Trek films and series (not a crazy massive fan, I just like them). So ignore all the bias from me.

But I liked this latest installment. I liked the fact there was plenty of action, I liked the introduction of a previous character from past ST movies, I liked Mr Cumberbatch, I liked the pacing, it seemed to move along nicely, time flew for me, I liked the way they reworked some dialogue and a scene from a previous film in a new way which worked as part of this film and I liked the fact there was only a smidgin of a love story (which amounted to about four minutes screen time, and some of it was used for comedic effect).

So far this is the best film I've seen in 2013.

Edit: Something I forgot to mention. In IMAX 3D the glaases are free, but you hand them back at the end. I asked why and apparently they are cleaned for the next customer. I asked if I could buy a pair myself and use them each time, they said no. I said I did not care for constantly reused glasses.

Is it just me or would you all be OK with recycled glasses?

Watched Captain America the other night and thought it was okay - although not nearly as enjoyable as Thor. Have a copy of Avengers Assemble to watch over the weekend... hopefully!

Probably the most disappointing film I've seen this year. I wouldn't actually call it a bad movie (I've seen some real stinkers that are much, much worse) , and it has some interesting ideas, but it's definitely not one I'd recommend to others.

Be warned: it's made so much money on a very small budget that a sequel is already on the way...

yep, it was a bit lame and boring and I was disinterested by the end.

I've always thought of Superman as a super hero that is too perfect and one dimensional to hold any interest.

"Truth, justice and the American way" come on, that's not the America we know. The America we know is a country that locks up more of its citizens, per head, than any other nation on Earth, is warmongering and lets its citizens carry guns because politicians are lobbied by the NRA.

OK, I'm getting political, but Superman's catchphrase is political!

The character is too powerful to provide any dramatic interest.  In the first film he just reversed time to save Lois Lane by reversing the spin the of the Earth (which would not reverse time anyway), therefore, it set the precedent that he could reverse anything - like the rise of Nazism - by just circling the Earth really fast - but Superman couldn't be arsed to do that to prevent the rise of Hitler but he could to save Lois!  That makes him a selfish shit, really!

In the last Superman film Superman was able to lift a whole continent made of kryptonite and jetison it to outer space- even though kryptonite is supposed to be his fatal weakness.  So even Kryptonite can't mess up supes!

Now that is one of my problems with Dr. Who. He "owns" a time machine, so any situation he finds himself in which does not work out, he can just fly back in time and fix it. The guy is a freakin' Time Lord, that must mean something - so he could go back and help out Ms Pond etc.

  4. The Chronicles of Riddick
  5. Hot Fuzz

This is Spinal Tap.  One of my all time favourites. Turn it up to 11. In fact I'm sure I made reference to it in the Apprentice thread when they screwed up the flag dimensions.
