I, for e.g. don't approve up some of the behaviour of the hms, irrespective of their social class, wealth etc. I don't like nastiness, nor people looking down their noses at others or mocking them, again irrespective of social status.
Just a thought, but haven't heard anyone being called an 'inverted snob' for criticising Bea's behaviour Confused
Nod Im in no way an inverted snob! Just coz Ive got a London accent and live in a council place, doesnt mean I dislike wealthy ppl, or ppl who speak well! I voted for Will Young to win Pop Idol I'll have you know!!! Laugh Laugh Laugh

I agree nothing to do with snobbery it's due to behaviour if you dislike a housemate. I voted for Kerry Katona to win IACGMOOH along with my mom when we had free texts on our phone Blush Laugh.
Eeker Only joking Darlo!! Hug i liked Kerry on that too. Sad really, whats happened to her now. Frowner

I know it's a shame. About Freddie though it doesn't bother me if people have gone off him or don't like him it's their opinion and they don't have to keep justifying it, same as we Freddie fans don't have to keep justifiying why we like him but the debates are good and each to their own. All housemates get negative criticism anyway so no probs although it gets tiring having to defend yourself Big Grin Smiler.

Then it's actually your problem, not his.

Yes, that's what I said.

I think he was trying to appear cool and "one of the people" by declaring he had been on the dole. As to "pocket money", I think he was saying simply that it wasn't very much. I actually think he was trying to appear sympathetic with people who have to go on the dole.

He failed miserabley then.

Looks like it because some people will see a negative ulterior motive in everything other people do.

Kinda like the same way Freddie fans can see nothing wrong in anything he does.

He felt it was a derisory amount to be handing out to people and Dave agreed with him.

Quite so Squiggs! probs just enough for personal items nothing more.
This must be the zillionth tread on this very subject! Roll Eyes Please chill out you over sensitive morolisers.. he didn't snatch your grannies hand bag! Cool

Well i am not a Freddie fan but having listened to the conversation i dont think he is any different to any young guy with parents, who claim "dole" money as a bit of pocket money, I didnt take his comments as patronising to people who have to live on this amount, infact he probably doesnt have a clue that some folk actually have to live on this amount! In this situation how many young guys do? There are many young folk living with their parents in council homes and dont even know the price of a pint of milk! So i dont think Freddie is any different in that respect. Plus as the convo was with David, i am sure he would have put him right if it had been offensive
FM
Freddie's ambition is to be in politics, does anyone honestly believe he would be that patronising? I think the fact that his parents have money is making us all judge him too harshly, I know I did when on launch night the first thing Davina said about him was his 'mansion', doesn't automatically mean he has money too. *goes and gets me tin hat*

i am not rich i have a son living with me and he cannot get work at the moment and i tell him to keep his dole for pocket money whats the problem with that ,i pay taxes so does his dad.as i am sure halfwits parents do,they should be entitled to claim ,
ive never claimed dole in my life neither has my husband ,and its not long untill we retire,
even when i took 10 years out to have my children,i claimed nothing ,freddy should be allowed to claim and spend it however he likes.

waveyHi Squiggs did you get my message re salt water rinses for your poorly mouth? I feel for you I have been there! Hug Hug

The thing is with Freddie he is open and honest if he is asked a question he will answer as honestly as he can!Whether the answer isthe one required is a different thing!
I like Freddie for many reasons and I will continue to stick by him! Nod

He did not say MY pocket money he said it was pocket money no doubt used for prsonal items...people do not live on ÂĢ40 a week they are entitled to many benifits on top of that IF they are NOT living at home! So let us get it straight...Never personally been on the dole at any time in my life but I would never be outraged by some one who has!.. chill out get things in perspective and have a good Laugh

I'm not that partial to Freddie, but in this instance I don't think he meant to upset many people with a casual throwaway remark. Just my take on things obviously.

No one is outraged that Freddie was on the dole, people are just appalled that he thought it was just pocket money knowing fully well that some Families depend on that "pocket money" and have no family cushion to fall back on....

He was also sat with Bea and nodding and agreeing with her when she was talking about how angry she is because her taxes are going into Lisa's pocket Mad Lisa has been working since you were a wee baby luv Mad

Valentine I know. Why doesn't he get a bit of praise for putting Lisa in her place at long last. He was the underdog for weeks and finally said what we all think. Instead, he gets picked up on a throw away remark about dole money. Sheeesh. Big Grin
