Meant to post about this yesterday, but got side-tracked.

The next series of Celebrity Big Brother is to launch with just female housemates "in a salute to a centenary of women's suffrage".

OFGS.

Firstly; C5's attempts to claim this is a special idea to celebrate women's suffrage is nonsense because, as we all know, this is an old idea which was the basis of BB8.

And my abiding memories of BB8 are:

- Emily being removed within days for racist language;

- the literally unbearable Charley (initially Emily's mate) making hay from her eviction, and then effectively bullying Chanelle and the lovely Lesley;

- Davina practically wetting herself in excitement at the prospect of the all-female house being introduced to "a whiff of a man" in the shape of Ziggy.

Not exactly the sort of things you associate with a celebration of the Sisterhood, is it?

Channel 5 said the show "will initially explore how the all-female housemates interact".

The male contestants will enter "over the course of the series", but the broadcaster wouldn't say how long the house would remain a man-free zone.

They also wouldn't say how many contestants of each gender will eventually be inside, or whether it will end up with an equal split.

Translation: "We're only going with this 'women in power' line for some cheap publicity, and if/when it fails to attract viewers we'll quietly drop it and return to normal service."

Important fact:

BB's contract with C5 is up for renewal in 2018, and this is likely to be the last Winter series of CBB.

Lesley Brain?

Yes. I got to "speak" to her a while back when GaGa ran live chats with ex-HMs.

Me too - I thought she was ill informed to enter BB at all

Out of comfort zone when it was clear what BB was about.

Well... Maybe up to a point, but the thing she kept repeating (both on the Live Chat and in interviews) was that anyone who met her in real life wouldn't recognise her from the "Lesley" in the house as she's much livelier and "up for a laugh".

I suspect that more simply she reacted as many HMs have in the past and just found the experience so overwhelming that she retreated a bit into her shell.
