In my experience (and I am always open to being proved wrong) but in the predominantely Asian areas I travel through in Sheffield (been through one today), hard landscaping is the order of the day. Their communities don't seem to be keen on plants, flowers and trees. Just places for cars.

I agree with what you are saying though. If you live in a foreign country, learn the language!

Yes, If I moved to say Germany, I would start learning the language long before going.

Yes, I was typing but could pick out most of the words. I doubt everyone could though.
