why do blackbirds like my pansies? all the other plants/shrubs/flowers are left alone but the pansies are pecked out of the ground

they can help themselves to fat balls, seeds, nuts and the occasional bread but no, it’s the pansies 🤬

I’ve no idea Machel ....but I’m sure someone on the forum will know

I like blackbirds. They are opera singers.

I love birds coming into the garden, blackbirds, robins, blue tits, great tits, sparrows but it is a la Carte not eat all you can see!

I’ve had what looks like a whole murmuration of bliddy starlings in the garden the last couple of days They seem to visit once a year...presumably on their way somewhere else ....and my normal garden bird visitors don’t get a look in while they are here

My daughter texted me the other day, asking if I had any strawberry-sized rocks in my garden. I do, so she sent her kids up to "harvest" some.

She read an article about how you can paint rocks to look like strawberries, and then put them in your strawberry beds. The birds will peck at them, and will soon be discouraged because they are rocks, of course, and they will soon leave your strawberry beds alone.

Seems like a fun quarantine experiment!
