Agreed Moonie, it was madness to have an audience in the first place.

The tiddlers have already put in their food orders for Tuesday

Understood El. I can see why you said you could do without that call.

Iā€™m pleased to say, there was very little food waste.

I was going to ask you when Cafe Yogi was going to resume business. Now I know and who its first two customers are too  šŸ¤—šŸ¤—

Good morning everyone

Pleasant weather here.

Yogi, you must be really looking forward to Tuesday

Squiggle, thanks The man rang me at 1.30 pm while I was having my lunch. His voice seemed to break off every few seconds so I daid I was having my lunch and would re him back in half an hour. Gave me time to finish eating, get the clients file in from of me and to collect my thoughts before ringing him. How to take charge and be professional.

I hope everyone has a good day

I see that this short film was classified by the BBFC a couple of days ago, due to be released in September. It was made in 1902, 10 years before the BBFC was created. The colour is added as is the soundtrack (there are other soundtracks for the film).
U certificate for fantasy violence.

It's not remotely realistic
George Melies directed, produced, edited and wrote the script vaguely based on Jules Verne's From the Earth to the Moon and H G Wells's "The First Men in the Moon". He was also Professor Barbenfoullis, the lead astronomer, and also the Moon

A long time ago the firm I used to work for ordered us to attend a dinner and for us to each accompany one of our clients. There were two after dinner speakers. One was fine, I think it was Bill Beaumont though It's too long ago for me to be 100% certain. I can't remember who the other speaker was other than he thought he was a comedian but was just crude and unfunny. The client I was with was a car dealer and it was obvious that he agreed with me. We would have liked to walk out but that wasn't possible.

Rewatched "The Happiest Days of Your Life" (1950). a good British comedy where an all girls school is accidentally assigned to an all boys school. I think it was a better film that "The Belles of St. Trinians" (1954), the first of the series of those films.

Both films directed by Frank Launder who also co-produced them with Sidney Gilliat.
Both films starred Alastair Sim. Several other actors/actresses were in both, the most obvious being Joyce Grenfell and Richard Wattis. Guy Middleton also in both, well known at that time and a bit like Terry-Thomas. George Cole was in both, but hardly noticeable in "The Happiest Days of Your Life". There were others but not at all well known. The other link was Ronald Searle as it was he who provided the artwork for the opening credits for "The Happiest Days of Your Life".

From the director of Wuthering Heights (1939), Mrs Miniver (1942), and Roman Holiday (1953). William Wyler's "The Desperate Hours" (1955).

I resaw that yesterday. Couldn't be more different than the first 3 films. Humphrey Bogart in one of his nastiest roles. Film given a PG when last rated in 2003 though I wouldn't be surprised if it got a 12 now.

On the BBFC website:
https://www.bbfc.co.uk/releases/reckless-1935
A very silly error by the BBFC. The likes of Daryl Hannah weren't born at 1935 let alone making films.

The film referred to was in fact made in 1984,

Under Feature is a link to a film with an old fashioned A certificate classified back in 1935 though still showing the same cast. There is a 1935 film called Reckless. Considering that film was directed by Victor Fleming (The Wizard of Oz, Gone with the Wind) and two major stars of the time (Jean Harlow and William Powell) the BBFC have made a serious error. I have emailed them to point this out.

Another odd error regarding films I noticed today was on the 5 Select Channel. The film being shown from 12.15 to 14.00 was the British film "Fire over England" (1937). That's as the Radio Times magazine, website and Channel 5's own programme guide. However, the television programme guide had the title "Fire over England" as being a musical remake of "Ball of Fire".

Having seen both "Fire over England" and "Ball of Fire" I knew that the desciription was ridiculous. "Fire over England" was a historical film about Elizabeth I (Flora Robson) and the possible Spanish Armada. Film had Laurence Olivier, Vivien Leigh abd a very early appearance by James Mason. "Ball of Fire" was a 1941 American comedy starring Gary Cooper and Barbara Stanwyck. (coincidentally by Howard Hawks who also directed that 1932 "Scarface" film I mentioned). "Ball of Fire" was remade as a musical called "A Song is Born" in 1948, again by Hawks and starring Danny Kaye and Virginia Mayo"

"A Song is Born" is about a gangster's moll who goes into hiding when her boyfriend is under investigation. She hides in a musical research institute staffed by lonely bachelors. One of the writers was Billy Wilder.
"Some Like it Hot" (1959) Two musicians witness a gangster hit, so go into hiding/ Co-written and directed by Billy Wilder. A coincidence or nor?

Evening all

Apart from one very light shower, it has been a dry and bright day.

Thanks El and Squiggle - Iā€™m looking forward to a fun and noisy day on Tuesday

El, I like the film Mrs Miniver. If I remember correctly Greer Garson married the chap who played her eldest son.

Little washing, Moonie?!
Hope all is well with you, Velvet
