Good afternoon, a cold dark day here. Christmas jumpers are very warm and cosy though

how are you all?

All's well here

I wonder if anyone has dislocated their shoulders trying to copy that M&S Christmas jumpers advert. I confess that I find it weird

I like that ad but I won’t be trying out “the moves”

Here's a very short quiz I've made up on classical music composers and their first names.

1 Which composer's first name was Wolfgang (as he's known, he was baptised with a different name). That's the easiest of my questions.

2 Name a composer whose first name was Gustav. That's a bit harder. You will probably have heard his most famous musical work or parts of it,

3 Name another composer whose first name was also Gustav. Harder of course as he's not as well known as the one above.

4 Which composer's first name was Bedřich. That's the hardest one and well done to anyone who gets it (without searching )

Answers to my little quiz (in pale text to hide - highlight text after the number to see )

1 Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart

2 Gustav Holst (best known for The Planets suite)

3 Gustav Mahler (major composer of symphonies often played at the Proms, some of his 3rd and 5th symphonies were used for the film Death in Venice)

4 Bedřich Smetana (possibly best known for his The Bartered Bride)

Good morning everyone

Raining here at present and more expected today,

Yogi, your answers to my first two questions are correct Oddly enough I watched one of those episodes of The Mallorca Files yesterday evening and it featured music from the composer in my third question - a genuine coincidence with my posting my quiz earlier in the day.

I hope you have a nice time with your visitors

I hope everyone has a good day

The eight series of Father Brown starts early next year - 10 episodes - same cast returns. Also during the series are some returning characters, Lady Felicia, Sid Carter and Hercule Flambeau. Also two chief inspectors come back - Sullivan (Tom Chambers) and Valentine (Hugo Speer).

Yay, that’s great news. I love all of those returning characters

Afternoon all

El, I also have a lovely, helpful postie. Mr Y (not very subtly) discovered he likes a nice bottle of red wine so, we have bought one for him for Christmas.
Velvet, my late brother was a Christmas postie when he was a student - hard work at that time of year.

Summer, it’s only 9 sleeps to go!
I hope you are all having a good day
