Any business which has to comply with money laundering regulations (I'm required to comply and report to the authorities any client where there's an indication of a breach such as tax evasion) is required to pay particular attention to businesses/clients who have dealings with high risk countries. HM Treasury publishes a list if such countries:

Little surprise as to which country is the most high risk or the country with the next highest risk.

Quite a number of countries in the third risk category. There is one country in that list which may be surprising - that's Iceland (the country, not the shop).

Saw a rather unusual number plate on a car this morning. It would have been first registered in Oxford. The plate would be OO07 PAH though it looked more like 0007 PAH. Sort of a cross between James Bond and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

Iceland is a surprise

This afternoon choir 1 did their Christmas concert pre advent really because our conductor is flying home to Vienna ( he often tells us he was in the Vienna boys choir ) - it was fabulous we sang  Benjamin Britten's 'celebration of carols' a couple of other pieces, and  carols with short Christmas stories in between and  because we changed times from the evening to an after noon ( the strictly effect) with mulled wine and mince pies included in the price - the church  was packed - loved it and the choir got a lot of compliments- makes the rehearsals every week so worth while

Good morning everyone

Cold here but no frost due to it being cloudy.

Yogi, I was surprised to see Iceland in that list - it's due to concerns as to that country's money laundering checks - Iceland says it's improving.

Ros, that sounds like a good carol concert My church has several carol services. This evening it's an Advent Carol Service and in 2 weeks time a Candlelit Carol Service for families with the children helping to create the crib scene under the altar. There's also carol services for the local schools. The church also will have the traditional Nine Lessons and Carols Service but nowadays that's held in January.

I hope everyone has a good day

On Channel 5's My5 catch up service they's created a "Pluto TV Christmas" channel:
https://www.my5.tv/channels/plutotvchristmas

Not a lot there but of note are a couple of old films "March of the Wooden Soldiers" which is a Laurel & Hardy film from 1934 and a 1935 version of Scrooge. They were originally in black and white but colorised versions exist.

Good morning everyone

It’s cold this morning but not as cold as the previous two mornings

Not much to do today so 5 Aussie recorded soccer game and a live FA Cup game later so that’s me sorted

Have a good day, all

Moonie

Moonie, i hope you enjoy those two football matches

I found my pile of church magazines in church this morning. I think that someone had taken them thinking it was their pile, realised later that they'd taken the wrong pile so came back with mine and took theirs.

Moonie, I see, that's a bit of a football marathon

Just seen another episode from The Twilight Zone, the first which is out and out science fiction ("The Lonely"). Had a very early role for Jean Marsh who would become famous years later for Upstairs Downstairs. The episode could be part of the inspiration for Phlip K Dick's novel "Do Androids dream of electric sheep?" which Ridley Scott filmed as "Blade Runner".

Watched a 1965 film "How to Murder Your Wife". I'd seen it many years ago. It's supposedly a comedy though by today's standards not really funny even it it had Jack Lemmon and Terry-Thomas in. By the way no-one is murdered in it despite the title.

It had been so many years since I saw it and had forgotten about it but the court room scene near the end of the film makes the film unacceptable. A bit surprising that it got shown on television.

The only bit of the film I remembered was one of the pieces of music which occurs a couple of times during the film - It's at 7 minutes 52 seconds in:

😮 That’s terrible

That’s even worse. Good to see they are being offered some form of heating at least El

Talking of cold weather, the road gritter just went past. The first time I have seen it this winter

I have just had a look at the overnight weather forecast and it will be -4 by 5am tomorrow

Good morning everyone it's very cold here but I guess it is everywhere. Hope everyone is keeping snuggled up warm and cosy. Hot chocolate time definitely.  I'm glad you found out what happened to your church magazines EL. That Christmas concert sounds lovely Ros. I'm glad you all felt appreciated.

Enjoy your day everyone

Good morning everyone

Cold and frosty here.

Moonie, I think they had the gritters out on the main roads here a couple of weeks ago in some places when there was a brief cold snap.

Ros, my church used to have the traditional carol service the Sunday before Christmas Day but the vicar we have now changed that. I think that may be because of there being several school carol services in church before Christmas.

Squiggle, as you say, hot chocolate time. Thanks re those church magzines

I hope everyone has a good day

I've been to the local post office to post papers back to a client. It's sunny but cold outside. Had to wait in the queue as there were people in front doing their overseas Christmas post. I had to do Royal Mail post rather than Parcelforce. Although Parcelforce is cheaper if one goes for 24 or 48 hour delivery, those delivery times can be up to 18.00 which is outside the client's working hours.

Good morning everyone

A cold night with a moderate frost. Gritters out twice last night

Shopped, banked and been to the post office, so that’s me sorted

I hope you all have a good day. Stay warm
