Watched a 1943 British film called "The Demi-Paradise". Russian engineer (Laurence Olivier) comes to England to assist in the construction of a new propellor for an ice-breaking ship prior to the second world war, returns home, then comes back to England to finalise the construction during the war. Part drama, part romantic comedy, part propaganda to show support with Russia when the Nazins invaded that country. Quite watchable though not on a par with Ninotchka.
The most unusual scene was this one. Beatrice Harrison was known for doing this for the BBC. You'll need to have the sound up a bit.

Filming of an episode of Doctor Who is taking place today and tomorrow in Gloucester.

Locations are in Gloucester Cathedral, College Street (which links the cathedral with Westgate Street) and Westgate Street.
Saw someone from Virgin Media putting a protective cover over where tha cable would be coming up from under the pavement into my forecourt to reduce the risk that the cable is severed this morning. No sign yet as to when my part of the pavement will get replaced so obviously the end date for the work of today has been missed.
Saw a roadworker daubing signs on the pavement so had a chat with him. He said that today's finishing estimate had been rather optimistic. They expect to be finished by the end of next week or the early part of the week after that. They had had problems, some of which was down to severing the Virgin Media cable for 3 other houses in the road. That's why Virgin Media came this morning to put a protective cap at the connection at my house and at other houses.
