Oh heck that probably means i’ll cry at the end then lol it’ll be the biggest box office smash yet, I’m so happy to be seeing it!

I think it's safe to assume that the eventual world wide gross takings for End Game will be rather massive.

It's a fact that there will be further Marvel films, the next being another Spider Man film sometime in July.

Good evening Buddies

The odd heavy shower here. Much colder and windier today. Amber weather warning for tonight, tomorrow and tomorrow evening

Have a great evening everyone

Good morning everyone and a happy 10th anniversary

There has been some rain here and it's windy as expected but not damaging here.

I hope Summer enjoyed that film

I didn't see the 1958 film Carve Her Name with Pride shown yesterday as I've seen it several times before. I found out that a famous British actor appeared uncredited in that film in a very early role - not a lot of people know that

I hope everyone has a good day

 My guess is Michael Caine

Good morning everyone

No storm here, just grey and dismal.

I have some family coming today, and a pile of ironing to do before they get here.

Have a good day, all.

By the way, if you want to spot Michael Caine's very brief scene in Carve her Name with Pride it's towards the end of the film. Violette Szabo (Virginia McKenna) has been captured, is in a train with other prisoners when the train comes under attack from a plane. The train stops, partially in flames. Whilst the German soldiers are running down the train corridor past the cells to the outside. Violette Szabo says to the other women prisoners with her that here's their chance to escap. They crouch down, move to the corridor and she says that she thinks they can get out that way. Just then we see the male prisoners behind bars and one of them shouts out for water - that's Michael Caine. Violette Szabo hears his pleas and then decides to get him and the others water with the result that their hope of escape is dashed.

If you've never seen the film, it's worth watching, tragic but memorable and the scene with Virginia McKenna reciting the poem code "The Life that I Have" is justly famous (and really was used by Violette Szabo).

I have actually seen that film several times El but never notice Michael Caine’s brief appearance

I doubt if many people noticed (I hadn't) which is why I described the scene where he did appear

Re Michael Caine. His first role according to IMDB was in a film made for the BBC called "Morning Departure" which was shown on television on 1 December 1946. It was remade as a film a few years later though he wasn't in the film, IMDB describes his character as "Teaboy".

IMDB's cast list for that 1946 BBC version has quite a few well known actors in it:
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0...s?ref_=tt_cl_sm#cast

Note that the Radio Times listing for it (via the Genome site) omits all of the well known actors other than Nigel Patrick, Patrick Macnee and Michael Hordern, so no mention of Michael Caine, Richard Attenborough, George Cole, John Mills or Kenneth More. Richard Attenborough, George Cole, John Mills and Kenneth More were in the 1950 film version. So there has to be a question mark of IMDB's accuracy. However it is reasonable to believe that Michael Caine was in the 1946 BBC version. One of my film biographical books mentions that he was in a lot of TV programmes during the 1940s before going into films - he would have been 13 at the time so a teaboy would be the sort of role he played then.

Good morning everyone

Fairly sunny and warm here.

Summer, little suprise that the Avengers film you saw last week is now officially the highest grossing film for the opening weekend:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/...g_openings_for_films

That list only includes modern films - it would be difficult to include older films due to factors such as inflation.

I hope everyone has a good day
