I think my area is at greater risk of thunderstorms than you though the BBC site has thunderstorms on Sunday and the  Met Office rain.

Squiggle, well done on getting the duvet washed and dried in the one day

Yogi, I hope you find what you are looking for at Costco They don't have any stores locally.

As it looks as if tomorrow will be wet I've been doing gardening. Grass cut and front hedge cut. One garden wheelie full and one old garden bag half-full.

An elderly couple of Gloucester who were not familiar with Cheltenham had parked their car somewhere in Cheltenham so that they could go to the hospital. It's not easy finding somewhere to park near the hospital and they had to park some distance away. Trouble was they couldn't remember where they had parked when they left the hospital. That was last Friday:

(the photo shown at the top is a stock photo of the council offices in the Promenade).

After some publicity about this, the car has been found and the couple reunited with it 5 days later:

(the man's description of the locality in the first article wasn't that helpful as it would have given people the impression that the car was in The Park area or the Pittville area, the greenery referred to is actually a hedge with railings at the side of the car park; the "really nice houses" are really nice Regency houses but right in the middle of the row of them is a well known hotel for those who know the area and clearly they hadn't spotted that)

I've had another phone call from Thaxen Developments, who I have mentioned before. I've reported them again to the TPS who will report them again to the ICO.

I've told the caller to pass my comments on their failure to comply with the marketing regulations to the company director particularly as in 2 days time GDPR comes in and so they could get fined 20 million euros for non-compliance if they don't get their marketing practices compliant.

Still morning

Hope all are well.  Yogi I hope you get some free samples

If it's the one near Anniesland.

Steve Allen always tickles me with his tales of Costco. He stores it all in his boot.

There were cheesecake samples but I resisted

We go to the Costco in the St Rollox Business Park - across from Sighthill cemetery

Aww, I feel for them. I once was on the verge of reporting my car stolen because I couldn’t find it in the hospital car park - it was two rows further up from where I thought I’d parked it. Nowadays, I take note of a signpost or something similar to remind me where I’m parked.

Watched the film "Portrait of Jennie" (1948) yesterday evening. Top class Hollywood romantic fantasy. Directed by William Dieterle with the leads Jospeh Cotten and Jennifer Jones, so the same team as Duel in the Sun which was made in the previous year. Portrait of Jennie is a much better film than Duel.

Some special effects add to the film;s almost surreal feel at times. Apart from the studio logo, no credits until the end, That's notmal nowadays but not in 1948.

It's worth watching and is on Talking Pictures again on Saturday at 15.20.

Good morning everyone

It’s dull and cloudy atm. Having just checked the forecast, it’s supposed to brighten up.

Summer, that’s really wonderful news for your friend, and for the two children. I hope they’ll be a lovely family together.

Off to Morrisons and catching up on ironing.

Have a good day, all.

Squiggle, I hope you like Portrait of Jennie.

One piece of trivial on the film. The film music was by Dimitri Tiomkin using themes by Claude Debussy. The film composer was originally Bernard Hermann but he was replaced. The only part of Bernard Hermann's score which was used was the song sung by Jennifer Jones but what a song - ethereally beautiful.

Good morning everyone, like you Yogi it was cooler and cloudy but it is brightening up now and hopefully the afternoon will be nice.  Thanks for that tip about Portrait of Jennie EL I shall record that.  How lovely Summer, are the two children siblings?

Enjoy your day everyone

Yes they are siblings, and they’re only toddlers too god love them

I saw on IMDB re Duel in the Sun that the producer invited Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger to a private screening of the film. They weren't impressed. A few years later Powell and Pressburger made the film "Gone to Earth" which had Jennifer Jones in. The film is regarded as one of their lesser films.

I found this on-location footage of some of the making of the film. Black and white, no sound other than Debussy's Clair de Lune.

At 1 minute 56 seconds there's Jennifer Jones with a rolling pin bopping Michael Powell's head - it's utterly charming

I haven’t check your link El but is it something to do with the discoveries under one the polar ice caps?

Yes, you're right the Antarctic ice cap rather than the Arctic one.

I watch the news a lot El

The one is supposed to be as deep as the Grand Canyon , isn’t it?

The length and width is of the scale of the Grand Canyon so that could be the case for the depth - the article just says that they are deep.
