Good morning everyone

It is a blow, Squiggle, but I really appreciated my DiL’s thoughtfulness. Her mum is in the over 70’s group so she won’t be able to help with the children either.
We rarely go more than a week without seeing the tiddlers so, if this expected lockdown happens, it will be so hard not seeing them for 12 weeks. Better safe than sorry though.

My head has been spinning, trying to think ahead for the probable lockdown.
My dad assures me they’ve had lots of people offer to help if they are isolated so, that’s a relief. The carers for the complex are based right next door to mum and dad and they have an alert system so I know they’ll have help in an emergency. We’ve also made arrangements for them to get repeat prescriptions delivered etc

There’s probably something I’ve forgotten.

Stay safe everyone

Good morning I hope you’ve all had a restful night I had an early night and today I’m having a long overdue pj day!

yogi I hope you’re able to surrender what you cannot control, and I know that you will have whatever you can control, well organised. We’re all here to keep you feeling connected during your isolation xxx

BBC has suspended filming of soaps and other dramas. They will reduce the numbers of epsodes shown each week to keep the episodes already recorded going until they run out. For instance 2 episodes of Eastenders a week rather then 4.

Now that is a silver lining indeed!!!!! I think soaps have a negative impact on society, and people would do well to watch less of them.

Meanwhile, I hear that an announcement is to be expected in the near future regarding how us self employed people can get some financial assistance following the corona virus fall out. My business and other local ones are currently still open but the streets are empty, there are no customers. I’m certain to turn a loss this week for the first time ever! One or two weeks would be bad, but we’d survive. Any longer and bankruptcy is almost certain, which is a very strange feeling because I’ve always covered the bills and I don’t have debts. I feel pretty calm though, because I know we’re all in it together x

Ordered my payroll software and my accounts & tax software. Doing it earlier than normal. Won't be using either for some weeks but at least that's organised.

Can't comment on my clients though I'm aware of a couple with a child who could find their living circumstances changed drastically.

Good forward planning El

Thank you El, that’s helpful. I’ve had an email from my accountant too, with some local authority help too. I should be getting a ÂĢ10k grant because I’m under the business rates relief scheme, which is a huge relief. Paying my staff is my priority, so that will keep us surviving a while

That's reassuring to know

Good morning Moonie

The rain has set in for the day here. Although the band of rain isn't huge, it's just staying here until it peters out

"Peters out" is an old American phrase possibly from the time of the mining gold rush. It may refer to the prospectors using salt petre as explosive so if they ran out they couldn't continue.

Hi El

Like Yogi, I didn’t know the origin of “Peters our” either, so you have taught us both something new today
