Shopping went well and parents were fine. Physio had popped in to see my dad and will return when the cast comes off.

Got the tiddlers tomorrow so I’ll see you all tomorrow night.

Goodnight and thanks for the company, Ros.

Hugs for Summer and any other night owls

Have a great day with the little ones Yogi

Moonie

Evening all

It has been quite rainy up here.

We had a really good day with the tiddlers. We headed to the Transport Museum, now called the Riverside Museum and the kids loved going on all the old buses, trams and trains. They have an area which is a mock up of a street with shops, exactly as it would have been over a hundred years ago - I love that area and so does PB. I think my granddaughter may enjoy history as she gets older.

Then we took them onto the tall ship which is berthed on the river, next to the museum. They really enjoyed that too - BB loved ringing the ship’s bell and PB got to lie on one of the sailor’s bunks.

Moonie, PB says I’ve to tell you that she has a t-shirt which has a swan on the front

I hope you’ve all had a good day

Good morning 🌈 white rabbits! 🐇🐇🐇🐇🐇🐇

I’m finally back to normal, yessss!!!!!!! I’ve missed everybody! ðŸĪ— you won’t believe how much I’ve crammed in these past few days, even for me it’s OTT!

I had a lovely weekend with my friend, her puppy is just gorgeous.

As soon as she left, I went to visit a different friend in hospital. We thought he was going to die a few weeks ago, his survival has been miraculous. Now he’s out of his coma and ready for visitors, it was good to see him

I also found out that my very best friend in the world has Hodgkins Lymphoma, which was shocking to say the least but after a jolly good cry, I’ve bounced back and am ready to cheer her on through chemo. We’re just waiting to find out what stage it is etc, so we know what we’re dealing with

then, I managed to go on a date! Which was lovely, I’m seeing him again this weekend

I've also been to work as normal, and my mum pops in daily. She’s settling in well, she’s keeping herself very active and finding her way about.

Are you all keeping up? I feel like the Tasmanian devil Lol

I've got a ton of messages to respond to, and some bookkeeping to catch up on, but I wanted to see all of you first

yogi your day out at the museum sounds fabulous! I’m glad everyone’s had a great time, the tiddlers are like little explorers now

~Sparkling Summer~

Good morning all

Weather is cloudy and rather gloomy atm.

Summer, you must be exhausted!

I hope your friend continues to make a good recovery

Hopefully, your best friend’s cancer has been caught at an early stage

We need to hear all about the date!

I’m glad your mum is settling in well. I’m sure she will quickly make new friends.

El, it’s great when we can combine education with fun activities.

Have a good day, everyone.

Good morning everyone, very cloudy today, no rain expected though.  That sounds like a wonderful outing Yogi, I'm sure the wee ones will remember that for a long time.

Summer I'm sad to hear about your friend.  My husband had Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma and it was always said at the hospital that Hodgkins Lymphoma was the one they could cure.  I remember we bumped into a guy there once who was having chemo for Hodgkins and he was having at it at twice the usual rate because his wife was ill - I think she had MS - and needed him, brave guy.  I hope your friend recovers quickly.  By the way my husband recovered from Non-Hodgkins   I hope your date goes well.

Enjoy your day everyone

Handel's Sarabande is one of his better known pieces of music, thanls in part to it's inclusion in the Stanley Kubrick film "Barry Lyndon". Originally for harpsischord but also for orchestra.

Here's the conventional version of it for orchestra. Main theme followed by some variations.

And here's a different version composed by the piano player Elena Fortin. The first 2 minutes are the original theme which she then follows with her own 3 short variations.

Here's the opening credit sequence for the 1976 film The Pink Panther Strikes Back. (it's followed by the closing credits as well)

It includes little references to other films and filmmakers so it's amusing to watch to see how many you get. They start at 1.20,
The first 6 are easy.
The 7th is the hardest. You can see the original scene on Youtube:

and the name of the film is mentioned in the text beneath.
The 8th is from a musical and is quite well known though I saw the film many years ago which I detested.

Was it Sweet Charity? Not keen on that musical, nor Thoroughly Modern Millie.

Good morning everyone

Quite cloudy here, expected to become sunnier and warmer. Nothing in the forecast that the expected heat wave in the south east will get here.

Yogi, yes it was a bit of the Hey Big Spender song from Sweet Charity.
I did quite like Thoroughly Modern Millie when I saw it over 30 years ago though it was overlong. Whether I would like it now is a different matter.

I hope everyone has a good day
