Evening all.

The video of the paraglider with the northern lights was amazing, El. Thanks for posting it.

Squiggle, I agree that Ch5 have ruined BB. Tbh, if it wasn't for the thread, I'd have given up watching.

Summer, I'm glad you were able to find out that your sister is okay.

Moonie, I'm sorry we keep missing each other.

Evening Velvet, hope all is well with you.

I've had a great day with PB. She's managed to persuade Granny that next weeks visit should be a sleepover.

Glad you and PB had a lovely day together

Aye all is no bad. Glad you had another good one. And glad she's got you on your toes. I used to love staying over with my nana and papa too

 I'll take the kiss!

My late brother and I loved staying at my nana and papa's too. We knew my mum would let us stay so long as nana said it was okay - so we got Nana alone in the kitchen and primed her in advance. I wonder who PB takes after?

Good morning everyone, wild and windy here - again - like it is across the whole of the country it seems.  I'm having to venture out to get my hair cut but I shall be glad to be home again.

Yogi we don't stand a chance do we?  We look at those little faces and our hearts melt into a great puddle - and don't we just love it

Good luck to everyone having to brave the weather today

Just had a call from someone looking for an accountant to do his tax return (by Sunday). He did have an accountant but has discovered in the last few days that he died. I'm not taking him on as he said that he was in dispute with HMRC over tax years going back to 2001/02 (it's possible he meant to say 2011/12). Sounds too much like hard work to me. I said he may be able to appeal against the ÂĢ100 penalty on the grounds that his accountant had died.

Each year HMRC publishes a list of excuses by people who are late filing their tax returns. They published this list a few days ago.

  1. My tax papers were left in the shed and the rat ate them
  2. I’m not a paperwork orientated person – I always relied on my sister to complete my returns but we have now fallen out
  3. My accountant has been ill
  4. My dog ate my tax return
  5. I will be abroad on deadline day with no internet access so will be unable to file
  6. My laptop broke, so did my washing machine
  7. My niece had moved in – she made the house so untidy I could not find my log in details to complete my return online
  8. My husband ran over my laptop
  9. I had an argument with my wife and went to Italy for 5 years
  10. I had a cold which took a long time to go

The excuses were all used in unsuccessful appeals against HMRC penalties for late returns.

Afternoon Buds

It blew a hoolie here overnight but stayed dry. Now it's still very windy with occasional rain and sunshine

Sweet, I hope you and Bramble managed to get to work safely

I too hope you are defrazzled

Yogi, I trust the weather has calmed down for you a little

Squiggle, I hope you managed to get to have your hair cut and home safely again

Twirl required

El, love those "excuses"

Fortunately, I don't have to go out today but if you do, take care out there

Moonie, I'm glad you don't have to go out  Apart from being windy and some rain in the air it hasn't been too bad here.

The Met Office warnings map for today now shows:

Fri 29 Jan

There are those who would pay millions of dollars for a painting like that if it was by someone such as Joan MirÃģ (pronounced a bit like Guu-ahn Mee-ro and was male not female in case you thought otherwise )

 All

Love the Met Office map El, looks like a man very pleased with himself having  had a nice dinner

Dreadful weather here through the night, the wind was awful, calmed down now, thank goodness.

Yogi, nice to hear PB in charge, wee girls know their own mind dont they?
Love to all, and a special cuddle for Summer, glad all is well

Havent watched any of CBB this year, think its on its last legs, shame really.
Take care all

Moonie, I'm glad you didn't need to go out in the wild weather. Some people in NI and up here are without power, poor souls.

It's still wet and very windy up here but not as bad as during the night.

Skylark, you made the right decision to skip CBB, it is absolutely dreadful.

Haha, El,  I love the map and Skylark's description is perfect.

Hi Yogi

Yep, you have to feel for all those poor people

I just heard on the radio that a wind speed of 105 mph has been detected in The Shetlands

Glad your weather is a little better
