Just a flying visit.

Lucky Moonie, hanging the washing out! It has rained most of the day, so my washing ended up in the tumble dryer.

Eldest son, Dil and PB visited this afternoon, as did middle son, and his wife came after she finished work. Busy house but a happy one.

I'm ready for a bath and an early night, so I wish everyone goodnight and sweet dreams.

Night owl hugs for Moonie, Summer and Ros.

*night owls* I hope everyone has enjoyed their Saturday oh lucky moonie, I love the washing drying outside!

It's been windy in the north as I drove down but it's mild here in the south with a light breeze.
Miss Bramble slept most of the journey and I didn't get tired

Sweetest of dreams, hopefully I'll be able to pop in at different intervals tomorrow
~Sparkling Summer~

Good morning everyone

100% blue sky here and above average temperature, easily the best day of the year so far weatherwise.

Summer, I hope you have a nice break

We watched Pinocchio last night. It's never been shown on terrestial television but I had bought it on DVD. I did see it at the cinema but that was some 50 years ago and my brother had never seen it (which was odd as Pinocchio was his favourite character in any book he had read as a child and he even had a marionette Pinocchio). It is of course as enchanting as ever and is one of the best animated films of all time. I also have Bambi on DVD to watch in the future. That is the other major Disney classic never to have been shown on terrestial as far as I know. Of course it's one of those films which is so famous that we are familiar with it even if we've never seen it. It's possible that Pinocchio and Bambi will get shown on television in the future as Fantasia was premiered last Christmas.

Squiggle might be interested in a computer adventure game we've just completed. It's called The Night of the Rabbit. It's the point and click type of game. There are also various achievements which can be obtained during the game but those are optional. The storyline starts quite lightheartedly but slowly develops into something more serious and profound. What makes this game rather special is that after the game is completed there is quite a lengthy epilogue. That makes the game into one of the best adventure games ever written.

The one thing you need to be aware of is that it requires a Steam account. That doesn't cost anything to set up if you don't already have one. On the Amazon website there are extremely negative reviews of the game as Amazon didn't make it clear that a Steam account is required (though the box does specify this).

Good morning everyone, it looks sunny outside, wispy clouds trailing across a pale blue sky but I haven't ventured out yet.  That sounds like a lovely film to watch together EL, I am glad you both enjoyed it.  That game sounds good, as I have probably mentioned before I love the Nancy Drew games which are point and click although it usually involves a very high level of sometimes quite difficult and complex puzzles.  I used to play Monkey Island, Myst etc but got a little bored with them.  I will certainly look into that game.

That brekkie looks great Summer, I don't know where you are? I trawled back through the thread but it just said you are going on a long trip, anyway I hope you have a lovely break.

Have a great day everyone and I hope everyone gets to see some sunshine.

Good morning everyone. No rain atm.

Summer, I hope you are having a lovely time. The breakfast pic looks delicious but I had one of my 'head in a bucket' nights, so I will stick to a cup of tea for brekkie.

El, I love Disney films, including Pinocchio and Bambi (need a box of tissues to watch Bambi though). Hopefully, when PB is older, she will want to watch the Disney films, then we will get to watch them all over again.

A quiet day is planned and no visitors expected, but you know what they say about the best laid plans.

Have a good day everyone, see you later.

Yogi, I'm glad you are feeling better now

I'm sure that PB will love Disney films when she's older though the Lampwick to donkey scene is a bit scary for very young children.

I've taken my brother back to the railway station and he's back here over Easter. He's on holiday in Copenhagen next week and has just over 4 days left at work before he is "retired".

I am feeling better, thank you. I've managed to eat a soft boiled egg and a slice of toast, without any spasms or sickness.

Having a really lazy day and just chilling.

I am glad you are feeling better now Yogi, and hope you manage to get a really good night's sleep tonight to make up

I am glad the weekend went well EL, safe journey to your brother.

Thank you, Squiggle, I feel a lot better.

El, I wish your brother a safe trip home, and I hope when the time comes, his retirement is a long and happy one.

Yogi19

Thank you Yogi . I believe that my brother will keep active with voluntary work at his local heritage museum. There are other possibilities on voluntary work as well and he has his friends. So he has no intention of vegetating after retirement as that would not be a good idea for a long and happy retirement.

I agree, El. Keeping active and feeling useful, as well as retaining friendships is a good way to have a happy retirement.

Good morning everyone. Weather is dry atm. It was bright but is starting to cloud over.

My blood pressure tends to be on the low side of normal, so even if I was stressed and it was raised, it is still within the normal range.

I hope your reading is fine, El.

Squiggle and Joe, what is it about having your blood pressure taken that stresses you out?

The daffs I stuck in the greenhouse (and forgot about) are in full bloom, as are the ones I have in a tub. The ones in the earth are a bit behind.

Have a good day everyone.

I think that as you get older there is an increased risk of high blood pressure. The site I got that chart from says that it is valid for all ages. So the idea that your systolic blood pressure should be 100 plus your age which used to be the measure went out some years ago. There seems to be some doctors who would only prescribe high blood pressure medication to the over 65s if their blood pressure readings were more like 165/90 (or higher) rather than 140/90 for younger people.

There's also current discussion in the medical profession about whether or not to extend the prescription of statins to people at a 10% risk of a heart attack compared to the present 20% threshold.

Presciption thresholds have changed since 10 years ago and I think it's likely that they will change again before another 10 years have elapsed.

Most people recognise the famous statue of Christ which overlooks Rio. A fascinating article on the BBC website today:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/spec...spec_7141/index.html

It's a mix of text and pictures. As you scroll down the page the images change so it's different in layout from the usual BBC webpage. May be different on things like iPads.

It's the first BBC article I've seen on what the BBC are calling their responsive website which they are working on and is in a beta stage of testing. It looks as if this will become their standard and had tablets in mind as well as desktop.

They are the second and third in an old series of adventure games and I did play the first game years ago. That game came out in 1999 and it was quite a good game. It was published by Cryo who made other adventure games such as some of the Atlantis games. For their time the graphics were of good quality.
