velvet sounds like you're on the cusp of kicking the present music scene up the arse.

Personally, I don't get modern music.  I don't get Ed Sheran - he seems shit to me.  I don't get the Millenial Whoop either.  I don't get the enduring popularity of stale hip hop and its trite materialistic cliches.

I've switched off, it's not for me.  Occasionally I hear good music by people in their teens and twenties but I can't be arsed to pursue it because it's just not for me as I'm old now.  Good music is good music regardless if the musician is 16 or 80 or even 50 years dead but it would be nice to hear music that I can enthuse about even though the artist might be young enough to be a grandchild.

In a bizzare twist of fate, I have spent some of this morning listening to old John Peel sessions. John Peel was by far and away the DJ I listened to the most on R1. Notably for his broad range of musical offerings.

Carnelian mentioned Ed Sheeran. I was driving to work last week and a song of his came on (Perfect I thin it was called). Lyrically, it made me want to throw up my breakfast. I suppose there are only so many ways you can write a love song.

Sweat in Bullet is a great song from that era of Simple Minds, too!
