Big Brother creator and Endemol boss, John De Mol is reportedly closely linked to an acquisition of troubled broadcaster, Five.

We previously reported how Endemol, the production company for Big Brother, was interested in buying Five. Thus giving hope to avid Big Brother fans that the long running show would have a home beyond Channel 4.

It may interest Inside Big Brother readers that the very creator of the show, John De Mol, is reportedly in deep discussions with Five over a potential take-over.

According to the Financial Times, De Mol’s investment firm has joined Greek broadcaster Antenna Group in a bid submitted last week to Five, currently owned by RTL. In the report, they also directly comment about the possibilities of Big Brother being part of the take over deal.

The possible programming line up could possibly include that of Big Brother, which was axed by Channel 4 in August of last year. Again, giving even more hope to Big Brother fans hoping that Big Brother will be picked up for 2011 and beyond.

Five CEO Dawn Airey reportedly met with twelve potential buyers, whittling the shortlist down to five, one of them including Endemol.

Negotiations are expected to continue over the remaining months of 2010, with the eventual outcome to be announced in the β€˜first financial quarter of 2011β€³ – April 0f 2011 to me and you.
