Hi all, long time no see. I hope you’re all faring well in this strange period of time we are living through.

I’ve just popped in to post this link to a website that is showing all episodes of BB 7 for anyone who might be interested. (I hope posting the link isn’t against the rules)

One show each night, it started on Thursday, but all episodes will be available to stream for 60 days (I think) after they’ve been shown.

Stay safe and stay well everyone.

Sadly BB7 is awful ... except Sezer's eviction

One of the very few highlights in what I otherwise remember as a rather dark - and often unpleasant - series.

IMO, the producers ramped things up way too much right from the start, and then were unable/unwilling to take responsibility for the inevitable car-crashes. The HM selection was infamous, with several of them clearly vulnerable and unstable. The most obvious was Shahbaz, who anyone with half a brain could tell should never have been there (the producers failed to learn their lesson over him, and the inclusion of the similarly-vulnerable Sree in BB10 nearly ended disastrously...   ). However, there were others: Nikki later admitted that she'd lied about her mental history throughout the audition process, and Dawn claimed that the real reason she was ejected was because she'd complained to the producers about the number of HMs she thought were too unstable to be there. They lost 3 HMs in the first fortnight: Shahbaz and George walked, and Dawn was ejected (although I would argue she was really a walker: she wanted to leave, so they made a big show of removing her for "cheating" - eh?  ).

TBH you'd probably have to pay me to re-watch BB7 (apart for Sezer's eviction, of course - I could watch that on continuous loop for hours   ), but there might be a macabre sociological interest In studying the first two weeks with the benefit of hindsight. The (alleged) bullying and subsequent disintegration of Shahbaz is probably too unpleasant to watch again, but there were some interesting relationships: BB made much of Nikki complaining about Dawn being "smelly", but there some hints that she actually viewed Dawn as a sort of adoptive mother figure. The later bonding of Nikki and Grace was - IMO - one of the most extraordinary in all BB: I've always maintained that anyone who didn't know in advance would have assumed it was Grace who was 4 years older than Nikki, rather than the other way around. And of course Grace later married (and is - remarkably for BB - still married to) fellow-HM Mikey.

It might also be interesting to re-examine (in so far as we can) Bonnie. Bonnie suffered badly under the Week 1 "Big Brotherhood" task, and wasn't popular with the viewers after her entrance video made her look (misleadingly) similar to the dreadful Lesley from BB6. Like many other HMs before and since, she retreated into her shell, and following Dawn's removal was a shoo-in for first eviction. However I remember afterwards reading an interview with Dermot O'Leary who described her as "the biggest waste of a HM" that year, and was convinced she'd have been a challenger if she'd survived the early stages.

On a more positive final note, it has to be said that BB7 produced some of the most famous female HMs ever. It was the year of both Nikki and Aisleyne - another interesting relationship. The Week 8 eviction saw all the HMs except Jayne up, but - in what I recall as one of the most fraught eviction votes ever - it quickly came down to a battle between these two. The perceived wisdom was that they had very different (and opposed) fan bases, but I remember a lot of fans genuinely torn as they didn't want to lose either.

[As an aside, it's worth noting that both Nikki and Aisleyne went on to play an important part in early GaGa history by doing webchats on this site.]

And then there was also Imogen Thomas, who became much more famous post-BB for *ahem* other reasons...

The most infamous part of BB7 that you left out @Eugene's Lair was . . .

the re-introduction of Nikki 'after' her eviction

It ruined BB and it never recovered

As i kept pointing out- the rules were BB's demise (where they could delete, adjust or restart the voting at their discretion) Sheer manipulation!!

That and the ever increasing inclusion of outlandish and extreme personalities then passing their behaviour off as 'acceptable' and/or 'normal' for the house.

Leah was a perfect example - an utter disgrace

It went from a study in people and their behaviour to a pantomime, at best.

I didn’t see the early programmes , but from bb9 onwards I totally agree with your analysis Renton .....especially once it went to C5 ....the manipulation was so blatant that you couldn’t even pretend any more ....such as shame , cos I enjoyed the first three series I watched . Having said that , if they ever brought it back I would probably still  watch
