Just to recap  everyone . . . .

What going on here ...

I am far more involved in this world than probably anyone on this forum, I see more and deal with more and probably know a little bit more

EC has been living another life whilst parading as a simple, everyday Gaga forumer.

It's your job to figure out what he's really doing while he says,

"I've been out for a coffee"

What's his 'coffee'?

From top to bottom. At least JC is doing something about his 'rogues'  Not this bloody lot!

I actually have a little bit of sympathy for Theresa May here. She was pretty outspoken about this sort of thing when she was at the Home Office, but her current position as PM (and indeed her party's position in Government) is so weak that there's very little she can do about it now.

A good illustration of this is a bit of "other news" that may have slipped under the radar due to all the other scandals: Priti Patel. For those who've missed it, it turns out that International Development Secretary Patel went on a bit of a private business/diplomatic mission to Israel over the Summer, without telling the Foreign Office first. Then when she was caught out, she repeatedly lied about who she met (a stack of senior Israeli ministers, including PM Netanyahu) and what she'd told (or hadn't told) the FO about the visit beforehand.

At any other time, she'd have been sacked immediately. However May can't afford to lose anyone, so she's given Patel a "warning".

As a bit of balance, it's perhaps worth noting that recent criticism of Corbyn (for promoting the now-suspended Kelvin Hopkins) serves as a reminded of just how weak he was not all that long ago. Corbyn promoted Hopkins despite being warned about allegations against him because the mass rebellion by the Shadow Cabinet meant there was hardly anyone-else left to pick...

Very fair and balanced post, as always, Eugene.

Heheh: I admit it was a strange experience seeing my two-day-old post brought back into the light just as things got interesting again.   ( to Yogi, BTW.)

I still maintain that if May had a stronger hold on her Cabinet and a stronger majority, both Patel and Johnson would have been sacked immediately after this week's fiascos. As it is, it took two days and yet more lies before Patel went, Johnson's still there (at least he is at the time of writing...  ), and both apparently still have leadership ambitions.
