I think the Queen and her family play an important role in helping people know they will never be 'top dog' - she is - and so there's none of the scrabble for superiority or cut throat 'rise to the top' we see in places like America.

We kinda know our place (in the broadest sense of the word) and look 'to' the Monarchy rather than 'up' to the Monarchy for setting standards (of which they have often fallen short), but the expected standards are still there and I think William has done everything expected of him.

I agree Renton….and , when ( and if) they get there I think William and Kate will do a good job as well .

I haven’t been too keen in the past , but he certainly stepped up to the plate today .

I've always found him to be emotionally aware (rare for a man in the public eye) and willing to stand for what he believes in (even if this has led to ridicule) which reveals a strong will. So I hope, and I'm sure, he'll make a great King.

The funeral is to be a week on Monday (19th September) and the country is officially in mourning until then. So who knows what will happen to ALL schedules of everything!

Very strange!

J've just read on the news that the funeral date has not been announced, but I definitely read it on the news pages a couple of days ago!!!!

Was it another case of someone jumping the gun?
