So what's the motivation for not enforcing face masks? It's a very easy thing for most to comply with and bound to help - so why not?

Is it cos they want us to catch the virus?

I don’t think they want us to catch it Renton, but I agree , mask wearing is so easy that I can’t see why they don’t make it mandatory

They haven't learnt a thing, have they?

The sooner you bring in measures to reduce/prevent infections, the shorter an outbreak will last and the less damage it will do.

It's really isn't rocket science.

Exactly Eugene ….they don’t seem to have the bliddy sense they were born with , do they

They seem to have retreated to this idea (that actually they fed the public) that if you  get the Vaccine or have had Covid you have some sort of immunity. Immunity only has 2 levels - immunity or no immunity, you can't be 'A BIT' immune.

The vaccine and Covid deliver a reduced RISK of catching and passing it on, but not immunity.

Nope!
Just good old fashioned common sense.

The only reason for no mandatory facemasks is so the virus spreads and builds herd immunity.

All vulnerable groups and over 50's get a jab

Sounds like the same approach to the flu virus to me

A very risky tactic if true

And now they're spreading fear in the population re: the booster jabs!

When booster jabs were first mentioned we were told they couldn't be given until A MINIMUM of 6 months had passed since your second jab. In tonight's news they were fostering the idea that people should be getting worried if they haven't had their booster invitation MORE than 6 months after their 2nd jab!

Although I agree with you Slim, the other side of the argument is that you only kick the ball down the road….lift restrictions and cases rise anyway

As I heard on TV last night….Javid said that once you reached the six months and waited more than a week to be contacted, then go online and book it yourself…..I did that last night and got my jab today at the local chemist

if the NHS form says you’re eligible then it’s a piece of cake to book

Still touting it as a worry though, even if it IS easy to book!

My sister has COVID she's been bullish to say the least about mask wearing and vaccines and has refused a jab and wasn't going to get one at all until her employer demanded it as part of her employment. She says it feels like she has ahuge head cold, otherwise she feels ok.

She's had one jab so far

I can't pretend she's her own worst enemy, mouthy lil so and so if I'm honest. We were hoping she'd get it to teach her a lesson (not to be harmed of course) but now he has it

With a change of thought.

I don't wish it on anyone, but it is looking increasingly like the only way some people are going to take this seriously, is for them to catch it!

Was talking to someone I hadn’t seen for ages…..he said his brother, only 38 years old with a one year old child had caught Covid ,became seriously ill and had died within the week….he passed it to his aunt who died 10 days later….

he thought both had had one jab, but didn’t think either had gone for the second one, having got scared of blood clots…..unfortunately Covid gave them those😢

NHS Test and Trace has ordered all regional and local test sites across the country to scale back their operating hours, and stop offering a service after 6pm.

Officials said they had taken the decision because “demand for tests reduces significantly” in the evenings.

It comes after the scheme was lambasted as an “eyewatering” waste of taxpayers’ money which failed in its main objective to “help break chains of Covid-19 transmission and enable people to return towards a more normal way of life”
The £37 billion budget – equal to almost a fifth of the entire health service budget – was used to hire more than 2,000 consultants, employed on average rates of more than £1,000 a day.

Van=Tam says 'too many people believed the pandemic was over.'

And I say 'and whose fault is that'? Things were opened up in great swathes, rules about foreign travel were not strictly followed and very quickly downgraded and so on, but it was ALL the people's fault, never the government's!

Exactly EFFT .And still they are balking at reinstating masks etc . What’s the betting that now the kids are back at school the figures will go even higher , and in 2/3 weeks ….when it’s too late … they will suddenly do an about turn !Anyway , more importantly , how is Mr EFFT doing?

It was always going to be the peoples fault right from the start....

How is Mr Fluffy getting on Fluffs?

Van Tam is a condescending, patronising shill who believes in his own hype. Never fooled me.

Mr Fluffy is still a bit panicky and paranoid, but is actually vastly improved, relative to what he was like when he first got home, thank you!

A totally understandable reaction to what he has been through
So very pleased to hear he is on the mend
