Federal government considering mask mandates again. Governor planning injunction, wants to keep Florida free, thinks he is attracting people to Florida with his lack of rules. Disney can’t give tickets away! Hospitals seeing admissions at a higher rate than at any time of the pandemic. I have a new motto for his merchandise - “Come to Florida.... and die!”

I saw the bit about the federal government thinking about mask mandates , and was hoping that might give your governor a kick up the rear Roxan , but seems not .

Hospitals have erected tents again. Our county major just signed an exec order because we are getting the highest number of cases  since this began, but all he could do Is “strongly encourage” mask wearing, since the governor has banned mask mandates statewide. They are throwing away a huge amount of vaccines every day and I am so offended by this given the shortage worldwide. Such a huge amount of people still think this is a hoax.

It’s unbelievable Roxan

I really cannot get how people think this is a hoax! Al right, to begin with maybe one looks a bit skepitally at the reports, but do people really think thatgovernments around the world are lavishing umpteen amounts of money on fabricating all this? Or just their own government setting up some lavish, giant, HIDDEN, film set with a multi cultural cast and crew faking illness and death and pretend news broadcasts. Furthermore they are managing to keep out ALL hints of the rest of the world getting on with their lives as usual!!!!!!!!

Total lunacy!

So I'm not really sitting here not having visited any of my relatives for two years. And Baz isn't really decontaminating her grocery delivery each week, which of course she isn't really getting delivered because there's nothing stopping her going to the shops and picking it herself, etcetera, etcetra, etcetera!

Hospitals fuller than at any stage, tents erected again, all non emergency surgery cancelled again and all because a narcissistic wannabe dictator politicized a pandemic. Where is our governor? Over in Utah giving speeches to raise his profile for his presidential run ripping into the CDC.

I wouldn’t wish Covid on anyone , but …..

Starting to think the hospitals should refuse to treat anyone who hasn’t been vaccinated. I know that sounds horrible but…

I know where you’re coming from Roxan…..unless they could prove there was a medical reason why they hadn’t been vaccinated .

Should vegans be exempt from compulsory workplace Covid jabs?

Experts today warned that vegans would be exempt from compulsory workplace Covid jabs, with employers facing legal action if they insist upon vaccination.

The vaccine itself does not contain animal products, but medications undergo animal testing.

Half a million Brits are currently estimated to be vegan, so would not have to adhere to “jabs for jobs” rules

A possible can of worms...

Big can I’d say Slim …..having said that , my DIL is vegan , and she has had both jabs .

Not sure about the reasoning for that. It's not as if any of the equipment or vaccine used in that testing is going to be re-used.

Also, in my mind, being vegan and animal testing, are quite different things.

A great many vegans are against any type of abuse of animals...testing is definitely an abuse

I guess it depends on their reasons for choosing to be vegan but, I’d be interested to know how many of those vegans refusing the Covid vaccine, have had other vaccinations.

I was a vegan back in my dim and distant past. There are levels depending on what you choose to avoid. Can go as far as paint etc. I guess in a situation like this I would have been pragmatic back then, but it’s a personal choice I suppose. However, the numbers involved with veganism pale in comparison to the people refusing to vaccinate because they believe it’s hoax here. The vast numbers refusing are putting the world at huge risk for further mutations, risking everyone’s lives, causing delays in surgeries, hurting businesses.

Personally I think only those individuals that are advised by a doctor, should be exempt.

The article I posted the exert from went on to worry that there would be no way of knowing if an anti-vaxxer wasn't going to pretend they were vegan to avoid a jab.

We live in a crazy mixed up world

More people in hospital and ICU in Florida than at any time in the pandemic. Local officials are powerless to impose restrictions because he governor has banned any mandates. This is going to get bad. And this wave was totally avoidable. 🤬

That’s the plan. Relieved to see I wouldn’t have to quarantine, although I won’t be going anywhere once I have landed! Just have a couple of medical issues for my husband being investigated. It’s takimg ages because the hospitals keep having to suspend the process to deal with covid.

I hope you can get home soon Roxan

Channel 4 were reporting on the situation in Florida tonight, and interviewed Governor Ron DeSantis (by video). He said that the various Floridian doctors and nurses who C4 had filmed advocating mask-wearing and vaccination had "no understanding of the science whatsoever".

The also interviewed a woman who withdrew her child from a Florida school because it had a strong anti-vax culture, and was actually telling its pupils not to hug parents who'd been vaccinated because it was dangerous and the vaccine would seep into them through contact...

I'd like to think there will soon be a day of reckoning for the likes of DeSantis, but given that the Republican party is currently trying to pretend that January the 6th didn't happen, I fear not...

It’s a calculated position, from someone who is vaccinated and protected, to appeal to the lowest common denominator of the GOP. He knows what he is doing. The only time he talks about the virus is to denounce the CDC, Fauci, or to blame the press for stirring up panic. Facts are facts, numbers are numbers. Hospitals have postponed non emergency surgeries again. Begging for a mutation.

I could deal with him refusing to close the economy in any way, but his exec orders banning mask mandates, and business requiring vaccinations, is just reprehensible. He is suing Miami Dade for trying to impose a mask mandate so they have had to back down.

He was elected on the narrowest of margins, and is now behind in the polls, but we are still a tick over a year away from the elections and this is Florida…

Here we go again....... Government adds more countries on the Green Listand all the Travel Industry can say is 'IT'S NOT ENOUGH'

Mexico gets added to the red list and it's all 'Sob, sob, poor wee British holidaymakers having to DASH home, or prepare to pay £1000+ to quarantine when they get home.

They knew the risks.....and for all anyone knows it could (theoretically) be back to Amber or Green by the time their holiday is finished, thus possibly no need to quarantine after all!

Totally agree EFFT .I’m heartily sick of people moaning about their foreign  holidays ….fgs surely they can go without them for a couple of years ! But if not then they need to accept the risks and regulations !

Baz

The couple headlining the Mexico moan are upset about EIGHT THOUSAND pounds that they have spent on what amounts to a day trip assuming they return to the UK now to avoid having to quarantine. They should be on their knees thanking the powers that be that they are able to effectively squander that much money. There are people in this country who barely have that much money to see them through the WHOLE YEAR!!!

Boris Johnson would be signing his political “death warrant” if he demoted Rishi Sunak, a close ally of the Chancellor has warned in an escalation of tensions. The Prime Minister was reported to have made a barbed joke about moving Mr Sunak to the role of Health Secretary in a meeting last week – claims Number 10 did not deny on Sunday. (The Telegraph)

Where do things like that come from if there'a not a smidgeon of truth there?
