4 lavender

6 lilies

9 foxgloves

10 hollyhocks

 I agree with those.

No 1 looks like yellow marigolds

No 5 Hibiscus?

No 11 Canadian Redwood?

Could No 13 be Flowering Dogwood?

No 14 Douglas Fir

No 17 Horse Chestnut

No 19 Slippery Elm (never heard of it but I’ve checked and it is the name of a tree)

Not really my field of expertise, and Baz and Yogi have already got most of the anagrams anyway, but here's my list for the last 10 (along with the unused letters for completeness). Still struggling on #16: I'm convinced it's an oak, but I can't make the rest fit, and am concerned that I'm *ahem* barking up the wrong tree. (I did that with #20, thinking it was some sort of pine...)

11) Canadian Redwood - S

12) Weeping Willow - N

13) Flowering Dogwood - D

14) Douglas Fir - R

15) Western Red Cedar - A

16) ?

17) Horse Chestnut - T

18) Common Juniper - N

19) Slippery Elm - S

20) Mountain Maple - A

OK: I've compiled the answers so far (mainly from Baz!) for the first 10.

How exact does the name have to be, i.e. do we need to name the specific species of lily?

I think #1 and #7 are technically French Marigolds and Queen Protea respectively, but apart from that, the only one I can add is #8. That's an American plant: Ammannia Robusta, known as the Grand Redstem - don't know if it has a common British name?

1) French Marigold

2) ?

3) ?

4) Lavender

5) Hibiscus

6) Lily

7) Protea

8) Grand Redstem

9) Foxglove

10) Hollyhock

So Dame: do the names "Sandra" and "Stan" mean anything to you?

am I missing something  or being thick

Definitely not being thick, Dame.   I was just taking a wild punt.

"Sandra-Stan" is an anagram of the unused letters in the tree anagrams, and I wondered if the puzzle-setter(s) had left an "Easter egg".

Brownie points if it is: nothing worse than mild confusion if it isn't.

ah...I knew it was some sort of puzzle I honestly don't know the answers Eugene, I get to know them when they are passed back to me...we got all the geography ones correct and I think we were the only ones  It could well be that's eggsactly what they have done

I’m sure number 3 was on GW recently ...but I can’t quite grasp the name

It’s annoying me because I recognise the plant but have no idea what the name is

Kangaroo paws

I looked at pictures of that earlier but the one ^^^^ has buds along the stem where the kangaroo paws has all the flowers at the end of the stem.

Edit: Hmm, I guess it depends if the Pic 3 is showing the plant at an earlier stage in development.

Ditto it’s not a type of crocosmia , is it ?

That’s what I thought.

Dame could be right, it could be a Kangaroo Plant in the early stages of budding.
