I was always in the belief that chicken should never be reheated.

But on a recent Food Safety hoo-haa I attended they said,

"So long as the food is thoroughly cooked throughout to a minimum temp of (something like) 73* then it will be fine"

So blast the arse off it and you'll be ok

That's just the thing. When people say "make sure it's piping hot", how long does that mean I need to blast it for?

Do you have a temperature probe?

If not - the centre of the meat/food must be steaming hot.

In fact I would have it  'too hot to eat' then let it cool a smidge

I still need a time gauge. Any number will do. 2, 3 minutes? 10 minutes?

Well officially its around 73 degrees for 3mins if I remember correctly.

So try 3 mins and test

Remember steaming throughout

Only reheat cooked rice if it's been kept in an airtight container in the fridge. Otherwise throw it away or risk getting food poisoning.

It will depend on the wattage of your microwave.  If in doubt, blast it for periods of 1 minute until it's a the desired temperature.

I'm not advocating it but I've eaten last nights rice that's been left in the microwave  ... then blasted to hell ... then nom nom nom

So everything's bunged in the oven. And yes, the rice was in an airtight container.

By the time we decide the food is going to go off  ha ha ha !!

It's unlikely to be food poisoning as symptoms generally take a day to develop though can start after a few hours so there hasn't been enough time.
