Hi,

I decided to change my avatar, but despite trying a number of different images (some I have already used) I seem to get an error.

jpg's used to work fine but they are erroring (sp)!

I trust png files don't work.

I have already logged out and back into the forum, the error still occurs.

Really need to change my avatar as everyone think it's a 'One Direction' logo

Thanks for any help you can give.

EC.

Lori, I'm not sure that a link appears in the error. I've just tried to upload a non-graphic file on the avatar section of my profile to deliberately create an error message. I get essentially the same brown bar error message as shown in EC's posting and apart from the Select File link, there's no other link on the error.

Yes, occasionally.

I have 5:30 starts so try to get to bed as early as poss.

I was having a coffee in a coffee shop after work and a brainwave came to me. I was using my mobile and it had no issues changing the avatar.

So I think I will check my computer out and try different browsers before posting a support request - if I find it still an issue on my 'puter I will then post a request.

My guess is that the computer is now at fault.

Thanks for the help.

You changed it?  I must not be very observant, because it looks the same to me?

Anyway, I'm glad you got that figured out, whatever the issue.

El Loro - In that error message above, you're right: no link to the support topic. But there was an attachment that I could view (even though it was very tiny), and THAT had a whole long error message including the link. Now I don't know where it's gone, and I'm worried about my sanity.

My apologies Lori,

I did change it but did not update it, so the original avatar remained.

I have just launched Google Chrome and the avatar change works fine. It must be to do with my installed copy of Internet Explorer!

BTW, if you hover your mouse over the word 'error' you will see a message appear, which one can screen shot.

Pleased as punch now - thanks.

But I'll take your word for it.

If you want to get an error just select a non-graphics file such as a word document though you have to choose all files from the file selector.

I've also just made a false graphics file by changing the suffix on a word document file to jpg to make it look as if it's a graphics file. Not surprsingly that produced an error with the popup message Bad Request but as before no link.
