Has anyone played this before?
I'm completely addicted.
If this has been a 'thing' and I have missed it, where have I been ????
My high score so far is 3028.

I've just beat my high score by 100.
I think it is great for practicing spacial awareness and quick maths. But also tactics as you need to know which combinations will allow you to continue.

Only about 24 hours head start.
I see your score is rapidly climbing. Have you worked out the way to build up the high score?

Oh, EC: I don't know whether to thank you or hate you for posting this!
I'd played it a while ago (or more accurately, an earlier version called "1024" - essentially the same game, but the tiles start at "1" and the target's 1024), and it is indeed horribly addictive.
I looked it up and apparently the game dates from 2014 - a bit earlier than I thought.
Unfortunately; as with other FMs I can't resist, so instead of continually accessing the site I've downloaded a Windows app version.
Still not reached the 2048 tile yet, but current highest score? 15,996...
Eugene, you are officially top of the class

I am equally hated at work. Introduced it today and a number of colleagues have struggled to stay off the game.
One of them has got to the elusive 2048, but he admitted he played it a few years ago and there is a system to completing it, he showed me his completed game.
BTW, anyone noticed that these are the numbers assigned to a binary word ?
Just had a much better session

OK: Finally made "2048", so I can finally put this - and myself! - to bed...
Made "2048" with a score of 20,268. I don't know if the original Gabriele Cirulli version allows you to continue playing afterwards, but the (licensed!) version I'm playing does, so I finished with a final score of 28,168.
Yes, there are some basic techniques to playing: I wouldn't call them "fool proof" because there is a random element to the game, but they do help you more consistently achieve higher scores. If anyone wants me to go over them, let me know (I think EC understands some of the basics, but went a bit awry at the end there... )
As for binary: well, the game's built on multiples of two, so...
Actually, "2048" was based on an earlier game called "1024" (mentioned above), but that in turn was based on a game called "Threes" - which is built on constructing multiples of *ahem* 3...

once you work the method out Yogi it's quite simple to dop 2048 time and time again...it's the 4096 that's just out of my reach at the minute

As you say, there is a technique to it. My colleague said for example if you mainly go left-right and down, never go up. But during my winning attempt I did go up a couple of times, made it harder, but I got there with some forward thinking.

I still play it, finding it quite easy to rack up a decent score.

*cough*
and I was so close to getting 4096 and a 2048 together and made one flipping mistake and blew it, I finished on just over 60 thousand.
Good going Dame
I too still play, usually Saturday's and Sunday's whilst having a coffee. The other customers must wonder what I am up to when I let out a cry as I get stuck and the game ends.
