Velvet, I saw the 1953 film Malta Story (Alec Guinness and Jack Hawkins were in it) many years ago. I didn't think it was one of their better films but I was aware of Valletta being fortified and that Malta had received the George Cross for their people defending the usland during WW2.

Good afternoon how are we all?
I can’t yet tell you what I’ve been up to, but I’ve been really busy! I also went to a birthday dinner party on Saturday night and I walked for 10 hours yesterday, which went really well

how was your weekend’s? El, I hope your brother has a smooth journey home

Hi Sweet

A dinner party and a 10 mile walk

I hope you enjoyed the dinner party at least 😉

My weekend was fine fankoo

Moonie

Client came here to see me this afternoon to drop off her papers for her tax return. She lives near me and cycled here. I kept the meeting short so that she could get back home before the wind strengthens even more - gusts so far at 35 mph, forecast into the 40s now and raining so not nice.

Construction company John Laing and Historic England are in the process of opening the company's picture vault to be looked at online by the public. BBC have a page of some of the photographs of the company's bigger construction projects.

Photos of motorways and nuclear power stations aren't that interesting but of more interest is Coventry Cathedral.

Evening all

The weather has been very wet and windy but, as I haven’t ventured outside, it hasn’t affected me. I hope you’ve all stayed cosy and dry.

Some interesting pics, El.
Hi busy Summer  did you remember to do some proxy Yoga stretches for me?

10 hours Moonie it was a 23 mile walk I feel amazing all this considered, I think I’m getting stronger. I must improve my stamina

Yogi, yes I did- you are proxy stretched, de-stressed and feeling positively

I think making the effort on the yoga mat has hugely improved my post walk recovery. I’ve found a yoga session you tube that’s suitable for runners & walkers, so I’m definitely going to give that a try. You will enjoy proxy doing that session too

Good morning everyone

The calm before the storm here.

Summer, that's a good marathon (almost) walk

I wonder what Tom Jones makes of this new advert

I hope everyone has a good day and stays safe in today's storm

Good morning everyone

Very windy night. It is calmer now

However, 90% rain from 11am for the rest of the day. Yellow wind warning with gusts of up 40mph which is not as bad as was forecast yesterday

I don’t intend to go out

Have a safe day, all

Moonie, it was raining here around 10 and is forecast to continue until the small hours of tomorrow. It's breezy and is expected to gust in the 40s this afternoon.

Time to batten down the hatches then El

Gustav Mahler's 8th symphony (known as Symphony of a Thousand) is one of the greatest choral symphonies.

If it's too long to watch, watch it from 1 hour 17 minutes and 45 seconds for the final section. Starts quietly (the instrument with keyboard which sounds like little bells is called a celeste), and it builds up and up and up.
