If by any chance you can see the Sun at present (DO NOT LOOK AT IT) but Mercury is passing across the face of it. Doesn't often happen, the next time isn't until 2032. The transit ends at about 18.00.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/sci...environment-50377436

The transit can only happen when Mercury, the Sun and the Earth are in a straight line.

Trivial point re Mercury. Because of the speed it rotates as it's going round the Sun, each Mercurian day lasts two Mercurian years

Moonie, it's become very cloudy, windy and bits of rain here.

Just been to the local post office to return a box of files to a client - should get there tomorrow. When he sent me the box he'd used Royal Mail special delivery Β£26.60. I used ParcelForce express 24 which would have cost Β£21.12 but I got a discount so paid a net Β£17.95. 2 lever arch files both full with paper so heavy. He lives 100 miles away so travelling to deliver the files would be a lot more expensive and time consuming.

I have emailed that client so that he knows he should be able to send files to me for less cost than he has paid. I assume that his local Post Office covers ParcelForce as well as Royal Mail.

Moonie, the forecast here is like yours other than it's raining from 7 pm tonight through to midnight tomorrow so 29 hours. Amount of rain varies from site to site but it could be the wettest day in the last few years, just not as bad as the July 2007 flood event. I won't be going out tomorrow.

It doesn’t bode well for the the people of South Yorkshire and the East Midlands, does it El?

Shopping done at least until Saturday

The rain isn't going to help matters for those areas
