One thing about these cakes you keep feeding us Yogi, there’s zero calories so my waistline isn’t getting any bigger

Good morning everyone

Raining here again, forecast to stop and it could become brighter.

Yogi's cakes are also sugar-free so they won't rot our teeth

I hope everyone has a good day

and turkeys don't come from Turkey. They were originally from Mexico, they were transported by ship by people who worked for the Turkey Company which originated in Turkey. They were known as Turkey Merchants.

Brussel sprouts were originally grown in the Mediterranean area but were later cultivated near Brussels.

Hi everyone

Really chilly, windy and heavy rain up here.

Hubby and I have been to Costco, then to Morrison's to pick up Christmas food - what MrY calls “dried goods”. I’m shattered.

lol at the culinary/geography chat.

Hope you’ve all had a good day

However, Christmas puddings were originally grown on the Christmas pudding plants which grew on Christmas Island in the Indian Ocean

Sadly those died out at much the same time as the 12 sided dodocahedron bird.

I knew there was something about Brussel sprouts but couldn't think what it was

I didn’t know about turkeys though

Yes, it was originally shown on Panorama on April 1 1957. I've posted this before but it's still charming:

Wooowwwwww! I love the food/geography posts in here too. I absolutely love random facts

tonight i I had the privilege of assisting a friend decorate for Xmas, and she’s got a lot of very old, vintage family heirlooms. Her great grandmothers tree is over 100 years old, and still has some little candle holders on it! I’ve never seen anything like it, she even has a box of the original candles too the decirations for it are delicate, and still stunning 🎄🥰

sweet dreams lovely friends

Good morning everyone

A bit of sunshine here at present, showers expected later.

Summer, that Christmas tree is most likely to be what is called a feather Christmas tree:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Feather_Christmas_tree

It wouldn't surprise me if it was bought in Harrods as that is the most likely place in this country to have stocked them at that time. Although their "pet" department closed down years ago, such was Harrods that people could buy elephants there.

I hope everyone has a good day

Good morning Buddies

Very windy here and the clouds are gathering. So with that in mind I rather think I will be staying in today

Have a great day and if you have to go out, please be very careful

That sounds like a collectors item Sweet

I would be frightened to touch it let alone put it up every Christmas 😁

Moonie

Good morning everyone, very wet and windy again, looking forward to the few dry days we are promised before it all starts to chuck it down again.  That tree sounds like a museum piece Summer, the very thought of candles on a Christmas Tree would give the Health & Safety nuts nightmares!

Enjoy your day everyone

A Youtube clip of a collector of antique Christmas trees and decorations, It starts with an antique feather Christmas tree.

You may need to turn up the sound a bit to be able to hear him.

Two astronomical news stories on the BBC site:
China has launched a mssion to land a robotic craft on the other side of the moon:

Article has a photo of the other side of the moon which we never get to see.

And a chance to listen to the sound of Martian winds:
