It's sunny here now too

Apparently there's no established link between Belgian buns and Belgium

A bit like fortune cookies and the Chinese then El

and Swiss rolls (thought most likely to be from Austria)

and turkeys don't come from Turkey. They were originally from Mexico, they were transported by ship by people who worked for the Turkey Company which originated in Turkey. They were known as Turkey Merchants.

Brussel sprouts were originally grown in the Mediterranean area but were later cultivated near Brussels.

I knew there was something about Brussel sprouts but couldn't think what it was

I didn’t know about turkeys though

Hi everyone

Really chilly, windy and heavy rain up here.

Hubby and I have been to Costco, then to Morrison's to pick up Christmas food - what MrY calls β€œdried goods”. I’m shattered.

lol at the culinary/geography chat.

Hope you’ve all had a good day

You have been busy Yogi

Well done you and Mr Y of course

Wooowwwwww! I love the food/geography posts in here too. I absolutely love random facts

tonight i I had the privilege of assisting a friend decorate for Xmas, and she’s got a lot of very old, vintage family heirlooms. Her great grandmothers tree is over 100 years old, and still has some little candle holders on it! I’ve never seen anything like it, she even has a box of the original candles too the decirations for it are delicate, and still stunning πŸŽ„πŸ₯°

sweet dreams lovely friends

Good morning everyone

A bit of sunshine here at present, showers expected later.

Summer, that Christmas tree is most likely to be what is called a feather Christmas tree:

It wouldn't surprise me if it was bought in Harrods as that is the most likely place in this country to have stocked them at that time. Although their "pet" department closed down years ago, such was Harrods that people could buy elephants there.

I hope everyone has a good day
