A picture of that asteroid "Oumuamua" which looks very odd as it's as least 10 time as long as is wide.

That asteroid I posted about has become quite a lot more interesting today:

Because of it's odd shape, they are going to see if there's any sign of alien technology on it. The first tests will be done tomorrow. Could it be an interstellar spacecraft?

That would be so cool! Iā€™d love it šŸ‘½

Good mornng everyone

As forecast, it's some 7 C warmer here outside than this time yesterday so all the snow and ice has gone. There's still snow on the hills. It's cloudy and forecast to be fairly showery and breezy today but rain, not snow.

Yogi, I'm glad you had a good day with the tiddlers

Summer, I'm glad that your eye infection is continuing to subside

Another astronomical news story today, this time about Jupiter's red spot - it's at least 350 km deep into the atmosphere and could be a lot deeper:

I hope everyone has a good day

Good morning mild and grey here too today

thatā€™s an interesting story about Jupiter, the size of it is just immense! I wonder if the red spot will ever slow down or just keep on raging, it must have an unstoppable momentum.

Iā€™ve got to drop some parcels off at the post office, and then Iā€™m meeting some friends for an impromptu lunch, then Iā€™m meeting some different friends for tea!

have a great day everyone

Back in 1993 there was an American television series called Key West. A man played by Fisher Stevens won the lottery so decided to give up his factory job and go to Key West where Ernest Hemingway lived to follow his dream of becoming a writer. He gets a job as a reporter on the local newspaper and becomes friends with some of the locals. The regular cast also included Denise Crosby, Brian Thompson and also Jennifer Tilly, It was a comedy drama with a heart of gold. There were only 13 episodes ever made. It did get shown on television in the UK but late at night. I did see it by chance and recorded every episode.

It would get my nomination as the best unknown television series I've ever seen.

You can't get it on DVD but you can see it on Youtube.
This link goes to a channel where all but episode 12 are available:

Episode 12 is also available but in 4 parts via:

Although Jennifer Tilly's character is that of a high class prostitute, that's incidental and nothing is shown of that activity. If the series was rated it would probably get somewhere between PG and 12.

Episode 13 is as good as anything you'll see on television.

Good morning all

We had a flurry of snow a teatime yesterday and winter showers are forecast for today.

Summer, Iā€™m glad you had a lovely day.

Iā€™ve got a couple of parcels to post but Iā€™m waiting on things being delivered to add to them. Hopefully, theyā€™ll arrive today and I can get them posted off.

Grocery shopping this morning and then I might make a start on wrapping some presents.

Have a good day, everyone.

Good morning everyone, a bright morning after a dreadful night and evening.  I have never heard such a strong wind, it seemed to be prowling around the house trying to get in.  It was so strong that it blew my grandson off his feet and he talked to another guy who was much bigger and he said it blew him over too.

Hope everyone's plans go according to plan today.

Enjoy your day everyone

squiggle

A much busier day than I had expected as the huge client sent me the draft accounts and personal tax return of one of the directors to check. It's the other accountants who do those. So I checked them and have been back in touch with the client with my comments.

Squiggle, I hope there's no wind damage on your property - that sounds quite alarming. The strongest wind I've been in was in Birmingham many years ago. I was coming out of a subway which went under one of the busy roads and it was near impossible to walk forward other than by hanging on to the rail and edging forward. It was effectively a wind tunnel,

Yogi, thanks It was about an extra 3 hours of work but needed to be done as soon as I got the draft accounts and tax return as the final ones need to be signed and sent off the Companies House and HMRC to be received by the end of the year. With the Christmas break coming very soon I had to do this straightaway. I was expecting to do this so it wasn't a surprise other than I didn't know when I would get them to review.

Good morning everyone

Sunny here, cooler than yesterday with the breeze coming from the north.

Summer, my time off does depend on clients. I've got quite a few clients who have yet to get their papers to me. With the deadline of 31 January, I need to work on their accounts/tax returns as soon as I get them. The majority of them are straightforward. One of them is far from straightfoward though for reasons I won't go into I may refuse to do his for both breach of contract and of trust and also for potentially putting me in an impossible position.

Extremely straightfoward client meeting shortly - he's coming here.

I hope everyone has a good day

Just had a phone call from the Come Dine With Me people saying they wanted me to be in one of their episodes. I turned the offer down as I wouldn't want to be involved. I've never seen it but apart from anything else as I have confidential client files here it would be too risky to have strangers in the house - data protection rules and all that.

El Loro

Yogi, I hope you don't fall on the ice Good luck with the MOT.  I would think it will pass without a problem as you would probably suspect that something was wrong otherwise.

I think a lot of people would be wary of going in a paternoster fearing that they wouldn't get their timing to get out spot on.

I had thought that CDWM contestants applied to be on - that's what the Channel 4 site says. I've no idea as to where they got my details. My brother was also asked to be a contestant some years ago - he thought that he had been suggested to them by someone he worked with. So it's possible that I was suggested by someone who knows me but not that well as they should realise that I'm not an option. My brother didn't participate either.

Tewkesbury, which isn't that far away from me, is having serious water problems with 10,000 people without water. Severn Trent have engineers, drones and a helicopter trying to find where the leak is. They've set up a supply of water bottles ay one of the main supermarkets there. 13 local schools there and neighbouring villages have had to be closed as a result.
