Good morning everyone

Cloudy here and some rain is expected today.

Yogi, I'm glad you had a nice time with the tiddlers

Moonie, well done on getting 3 lots of washing dried

I won't be around here much today as I have one of those exciting tax courses this morning and a client meeting later.

I hope everyone has a good day

Evening all

I had a good day with the tiddlers. BB had a runny nose but was otherwise back to his sunny natured self.  PB was on good form too.

El, I'm glad you were able to sort things out for that lady, and the repayment will be over a period of time, rather than all at once.

Shame you didn't get all your washing dried, Moonie. I passed on the hugs

Summer, I hope you are having good weather in Ibiza and plenty of R&R.

Squiggle, I hope your weather improves soon.

That’s good news indeed on all fronts Yogi

Yogi, in the end the weather turned and the sun came back again

I managed to dry 3 lots of washing in the end

I'm so sorry Moonie, I didn't realise you were here.

I'm glad you got the washing dry in the end.

Goodnight and sweet dreams, Moonie and Ros.

Night owl hug for Summer.

Awww Yogi, I just popped onto the forum for a little while so no need to be sorry

No washing to do today

Have a great day

Good luck with the course. I’m sure it will be most illuminating

Moonie

Good morning everyone.

It's pouring with rain.

For once, I'm quite glad I have to wait in for a delivery today and can't go out.

I hope your weather stays dry for your shopping and banking, Moonie.

El, I hope the course is more interesting than you anticipate. If not, I hope you manage to stay awake. I hope the client meeting goes well too.

Have a good day, everyone.

Yogi19

I went to the place where the course was held, gave up trying to find anywhere to park so came home. Sent off for the course notes and commented on the hopeless parking facilities. I think the course company will have to find an alternative location as the one which has been used is inadequate. The location is  out of town and parking on the road would cause problems for drivers trying to get through as the road is narrow. Anyone who did get on the course has a feedback form to complete and there's no doubt that there will be considerable critiicism.

El Loro

Thanks Squiggle, I tend to find with these tax courses that I know most of ut anyway so the course notes should be adequate. I went to pick up some files from the huge job and mentioned it to them. They told me that they thought the course venue was having a spa built there. I've now checked and that's the case. So there was less parking facilities due to the land being used to build the spa and made worse by builders being on site. The venue should have notified the businesses who hold courses there so that the courses could be rearranged elsewhere.

Thanks Yogi and I'm glad your delivery arrived on time

I hope the weather in your area is causing problems

Here, it just very cloudy, dull, breezy and rainy. I've just returned from that client meeting and I decided to educate her with a word to describe the weather here which she'd never heard of but you know it only too well - dreich

If you ever find out what the programme was, you'll need to come back and let us know.

Good morning everyone, it's dry here but not sunny, very overcast and menacing.  I hope your trip to the hygienist goes well EL.  What you said about splitting a film into 2 parts rang a bell.  I'm not sure what channel it was but I have been caught out in the past by one channel putting news or something in the middle of a film and then treating the next part of the film as a separate thing, very annoying and you have to get around it by 'ticking the box' "show series rather than show once".

Enjoy your day everyone

squiggle

Squiggle, Channel 5 does split films sometimes and put a short news bulletin or entertainment news in the middle. ITV used to show the first part of a film from to to 10, then have the news, then show the second part of the film after 10.30. I wouldn't expect Film4 to do that as it doesn't  have news bulletins etc.

The hygienist visit went OK and the next visit is 5 months to tie in with the checkup. After that she hopes that the hygiene visit will be every 6 months to tie in with the checkup rather than the 4 monthly it has been.

Good morning everyone.

My friend rang just as I had signed in. We were supposed to be going out tomorrow but she might have to cancel - unexpected minding duties.

We've been trying to get a day out together for weeks!

El, I think it's channel 5 which sometimes show films in two parts. I know, like Squiggle, I've been caught out when recording a film and missed the second part.

Off grocery shopping, have a good day everyone.

Today's episode of Doctors was rather amusing:
https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b098j3nl

Leila Hoffman as Abigail Moore (not a recurring character) is good. Although it wasn't a black comedy like Ealing's The Ladykillers, if that was remade, she would be a good choice for the character played by Katie Johnson. I'm referring to the original version, not the modernised remake which I will never watch.

One of the most famous Hollywood films ever made was shown in two parts when it premiered on BBC1 on the evenings of 26th and 27th December 1981. Although made more than 40 years earlier, it hadn't been shown on television before then but did get several re-releases in cinemas until then. The fact that it was shown in two parts didn't matter as it's a very long film and was made to be shown in two parts with an intermission in the middle.

No prizes as to working out which film I mean as there's only one film which fits the details I've mentioned.

Gone With The Wind?

Yes  - not one of my harder film questions A much harder question would be which reasonably well known film director worked uncredited on both Gone with The Wind and The Wizard of Oz. As it's not likely anyone will know that without searching for an answer, he directed the best known version of A Star is Born and also My Fair Lady.

Moonie, you are so lucky with your drying weather

We have our days here Yogi

I did manage to dry all my washing even large thick bath towels

Washing feels so much softer and smells so much better when dried outside

Nice fresh smell off clothes that have been line dried
