I've had a restless night, my runny nose continues on. I got up for a bit at 6am to take some tablets.
Hopefully a good rest today and some fresh air later will help

I hope you all slept well

I hope you begin to feel better today Sweet and enjoy your day off

Feel free to do ours too while you have the mower out El

I enjoyed my fresh air, it's quite warm outside.
You won't believe what I have discovered though- we have a wasps nest outside the bedroom window they're going in to our brickwork through a small air vent thingee

Me too Sweet

*coughs* i'm first in line Sweet *coughs*

When the council modernized out house many many years. They removed a pipe from the porch above our front door. They neglected to fill the hole up. Last year or the year before, I noticed a few wasps going in and out of this hole. Reported it to the council. They came sprayed stuff in there and killed them all. About a month to six weeks later they came and filled the hole up

I think calling the council is the plan, I'm guessing they have special fumigation products?
Is it expensive?

Who said that?

Mine was done for nothing Sweet

I don't know if its just our council that doesn't charge

Could be different for people who live in council houses?

That's a good point El

Good morning everyone, another lovely morning.  Summer I hope your cold is on its way out now.

About the wasps, if it's any comfort we once had a wasps nest one summer which freaked out the lady next door but the wasps used to come and go and didn't seem to bother us so we just ignored them and they didn't come back the following summer.  I know they are a nuisance but in my experience they only get dangerous towards the end of the summer when they seem to get irritated and inclined to sting just for the sake of it.

What's the forecast for next week then EL - or is it so bad you are frightened to tell us?

Enjoy your day everyone.

Squiggle, it's a return to showers or longer periods of rain for days Next Wednesday is looking very wet (16mm of rain currently being forecast) and I'm having to make my return visit to Hereford that day. I'll go a different route this time as the shorter route has very sharp bends and I don't want to be driving round sharp bends in pouring rain.

Oh well EL we will just have to make the most of the lovely weather this week.  I am torn because of course I am keen for my new plants to survive and I know rain will help with that.  This lovely weather has been great though.  I am sure you are right about taking a different route, you don't want to be having to cope with lots of sharp bends in the pouring rain.

Squiggle, it's a beautiful picture. I know the canyons there can be spectacular reds and oranges but purple

The bus station in Gloucester is to be replaced and the general area around it improved.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-e...cestershire-27409409

About time to as it's a bit of an eyesore and doesn't give a favourable impression of people coming to Gloucester.

There's going to be an archaelogical dig there. I don't know what they will find - Gloucester is a very old place and they could find some interesting things.

I'm old enough to remember that part of Gloucester is where the cattle market used to be - that's why it's known as Oxbode.

Squiggle, Gloucester pre-dates Roman times and was known as Caer Glow meaning fair city. The Romans took over making it into a walled fort calling it Glevum. Eventually the name was anglicised into Gleawecastre and then became Gloucester.

The reason why Gloucester became so important is its locality being the most southerly point on the River Severn where it was possible to go between England and Wales until the Severn Bridge was built.

If Summer or Garage Joe ever get a letter headed "Publication of companies and VAT Registration Numbers in the UK Corporate Portal" don't reply. It is asking companies and self employed people to respond to the letter using the form which is enclosed with the letter to give or confirm their VAT registration number.

If you only glance at the letter you might think that it's a legal requirement to reply to the letter. It's not. It's a scam which traps you into being in a directory for 3 years at a cost of ÂĢ797 a year. Although the letter says there are no costs for correcting your data, don't believe that.

There are lots of businesses which have been caught by this particular scam.

I think I might have posted about this before but it's worth reminding people about it.

Moonie where on earth are finding all this washing from?

Moonie's been carrying out an archaelogical dig

Well, El, some of my stuff is quiet 'ancient'

what will they get up to next?

Moonie

Moonie, tax evasion is illegal. That's where someone has deliberately not informed HMRC that they've been getting money which they know they should have paid tax but haven't.

Tax avoidance is where someone has done something to save tax. It is a much wider spectrum than evasion. At one end of the spectrum is putting money into an ISA account so that no tax is due. That's above board, and there's nothing immoral about it. It can be described as tax mitigation which is that part of tax avoidance which is completely legit.

At the other end of tax avoidance are these artificial schemes which make use of loopholes in the tax law. They may be legal but many would consider to be immoral. These are the schemes which get into the news.

I don't get involved with those sort of schemes and don't have clients who do.
