I wouldn't say Cliff Richard is a national treasure.  He's liked by women of beyond a certain age but I don't think there's much love for him in the nation.  He's considered an annoyance rather than a treasure.  His Xmas records are generally irritating.  He annoys many with his piety and bored the nation by playing the martyr over the BBC covering the police raid on his home.

Tis a fair point Carny - he's not without a few skeletons.

People tend to forget the religious rallies he attended where homosexuality was denounced, even though he may be gay himself.

He does, however represent some kind of significant place in British history and came out of the Police investigation untainted.

I tend to think he is gay.  Anyone with his good looks back in the day and celebrity would have been a man who would have had conquests in their hundreds or even thousands.  Having a queue of very attractive women with all kind of attractive personalities wanting to be Mrs Cliff Richard and not choosing one, suggests homosexuality to me.  I'm no homophobe, it's not a bad thing, but he should have done the decent thing and came out.

He is gay. He lives with a priest. Catholic church eh?

I always thought he was C of E

I think Cliff is C of E and he lives with an ex RC priest but I could be wrong.
