For gmail users who have connected third-part apps to their account, you may have unwittingly given those developers permission to read your messages.

Allowing apps access to areas of your mobile device has been commonplace for quite some time. I have always been very wary of apps that want access to areas of my phone which I find unusual and have on a number of occasion stopped installing the app.

For those that click through when installing and don't pay any attention I would say is uninstall some of your apps and then watch where the app wants to gain access, you might be quite shocked.

As a rule, I download very few apps. I suspect that it's likely to be the smaller developer and not your Halifax, Amazon type apps, although one never knows. Not yet read the article, but will do after the footy.
