Yogi, I can't understand that either. It's not obvious from the pictures on the BBC article as where the bullet hole is. It's on Christ's right side (so on the left in the painting) and is where the Roman centurion would have pierced his side whilse on the cross. So it looks to be too precise for it to have been anything other than deliberate.
