    Water rates - very large increase in the 2024/25 bill

    Got my Severn Trent bill for 2024/25 this week. Noticed that it has increased by just over 14%. My water bills are not metered. The fixed charge element of the bill has the largest increase. There's the Fresh water category which has increased from £33.38 to £48.89 and the Waste water, surface water and highway drainage section which has increased from £31.80 to £46.65. Both increases are just over 46% . Those fixed charges are the same for everyone in my county whose bills aren't metered.

    Microsoft did their monthly security update patches earlier this week. The main patches installed OK but for many people, one didn't. The patch is number KB5034441. If you check the Windows update and security tab in settings chances are that you'll see that it's failed. Trying to install it again is likely to fail. The problem seems to be that the recovery partition on your computer is the default 505 MB and the patch needs it to be larger. Trying to increase the size of that drive is not...

    I couldn't get on the forum first this this morning and sent an email to support. They've replied saying that there's a hardware issue and doing what they can to minimise the effect until the issue is sorted. So there may be problems until the hardware issue is sorted.

    Any HSBC customer needs to check that they are paying the correct amount if using their app. A recent update means that you must now use a decimal point.     Already mentioned, the new series starts on Monday March 1st, St David's Day. 18 episodes. First week's scheduled times are: Monday 1st 21.00 (60 minutes) with the first 5 contestants Wednesday 3rd 20.00 (60 minutes) with the next 5 contestants Friday 5th 20.05 (30 minutes) first quarter final. Monday's and Wednesday's episodes will include a new task for the contestants but nothing to get excited about 40 contestants in all. I assume that this series will be all done at the Masterchef kitchens.

    Back from my dental hygienist. Seemed to go OK. I thought I would go into some detail as it could be of interest to you. My dentist is not in the centre of town and doesn't have NS patients so is a less busy practice than many. Going there I wore a face mask. Receptionist came to me as I walked in and took my temperature (just pointed the reader near my forehead) then I did some hand sanitiser. Sat down - I was the only person waiting and only 2 seats available well apart from each other.

There's a change regarding the reply with quote feature. The person who you are quoting will get a notification that they've been quoted via the standard 'mention' system.
