War Films
Well-Wisher Pure escapism for me. Takes me back to the days when every boy played with action men in WWII uniforms, built airfix messerschmitts, read victor and warlord and dreamt of running about with a sten gun *makes machine gun noise* pulling out the pin with our teeth and hurling a pinapple *makes loud explosion noise* into a german machine gun nest. 1. The Eagle Has Landed 2. Where Eagles Dare 3. The Heroes Of Telemark 4. Escape To Athena 5. Kelly's Heroes 6. The Dirty Dozen 7. The Guns Of... [ more ]
El Loro A postscript to my earlier posting for anyone who is interested. Throne of Blood is Kurosawa's version of Macbeth. Don't be put off by the title which sounds as if the film is some low budget horror film, it's probably the best Shakespeare film made. Ran is also by Kurosawa and is his version of King Lear. Ivan's Childhood was the first key film from Andrei Tarkovsky. [ more ]

DVDs
Well-Wisher It all looks too complicated and I can't find any instructions on how to list my DVD's. [ more ]
Well-Wisher After doing a proper headcount, I realize that I have more than I thought, I have 511 feature films, all of which I've watched a few times. I don't think I would want to list them all on the internet, though. It looks very time consuming. Due to budget restrictions I only buy about 5 or 6 movies a fortnight so it will probably take me a while to get up to the 700 mark. *edit* I've just registered with DVDAF so, when I've managed to list all my DVD's I'll post a link. brisket I am very surprised that many of the expense claims which are seen to be fraudulent, or at least inappropriate, have been approved by the Commons Fees Office. Is the Commons Fees Office incompetent to have allowed such claims? Or is the Fees Office itself corrupt? [ more ]

party political broadcasts
Greying Blondie Political "charadery"? A game where public schoolboys (if one is chosen for the right school)are indoctrinated into, and learn in "debating" classes, the reason why some of the best liars are seen high up in the political arena. [ more ]
neil3842 yes it is but it shows action the party are taking now and he actually says sorry for the behavior of some of his MP's where as the labour one does nothing but attack David Cameron it doesn't even mention labour let alone anything they are doing. Gordon Brown is not even in it. Its a sad state when the only thing they can put in a broadcast designed to speak to the people is a attack on the leader of the opposition [ more ]
SpiderMonkey I saw a tory broadcast yesterday. It was all about the recent spending scandels. [ more ]
