Theresa May
Eugene's Lair Yeah: her "official" reason is clearly nonsense. Laura Kuenssberg has said that Leadsom simply hadn't appreciated just how much scrutiny she'd be put under, and when she finally did , she realised it wasn't something she was prepared to put up with. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-36766525 Personally, I put down to a fatal combination of inexperience and hubris: the latter preventing her from recognizing the former. IMO the whole "but I have children! " fiasco was just the final straw. [ more ]
Garage Joe If I was a Tory strategist that's exactly how I would play it. Rush through a succession and claim to be the stable party whilst Labour MPs try to run off with their party and cause trouble for the rest of the year. The difficult part is, having listened to the economic experts, she must now try to keep the EC status quo and single market whilst pulling the wool over the eyes of the Brexiteers. It's going to be a challenge. Good luck to her. Our place in Europe is more important than party... [ more ]
Enthusiastic Contrafibularities I think I would echo what others have said. What the hell was the point in standing in the first place! It all adds to the general level of wavering politicians. Just seems like a complete waste of time. [ more ]

Frexit: Could France be next?
Garage Joe So one can get rid of them? Who knew? (answer=most of us) Currency tanked. Bank shares ruined, Economy in a "challenging" situation. Billions of quantative easing. Crisis of Hegemony all round. Very slight destabilisation of the rest of our community. Let's blame Charlotte Church! etc. Ever get the feeling you've been cheated? ( Lydon, English philosopher) [ more ]

Jen-Star I swear my jaw hit the computer desk atleast 3 times during that. I too got emotional when Lady Mormaunt stood up for Jon as the king. I really cant wait for the next season no though, I knew I'd start feeling impatient as soon as it finished [ more ]
~Sparkling Summer~ ^ can we talk about it now then?!?!!! I've seen it and I loved it! Arya was brilliant, I just love what she did, and how! I didn't see it coming. I cried when Jon Snow was declared King in the north! Lady mormaunt was great. Shame he didn't have a bath but there's always that episode from series 3... Cersai- blimey I wasn't expecting her to blow the heck out of the sept, and Tommen he was a good kid, but that's the best decision (for the realm) that he ever did make. Now I cannot wait for... Garage Joe Hertha Berlin play in Sheffield Wednesday tops! Lovely place with a cafe and museum culture and a strong tradition of people sat in vans and attics with tape recorders. [ more ]
Eugene's Lair To be fair, this was actually in the SNP manifesto for the recent Scottish Parliament election, so it's hardly a surprise. A second referendum would be considered if there was majority support in Scotland for it, and remaining in the EU against a Brexit was always listed as one of the situations that might swing it. (Mind you, I was a bit surprised at how little it was mentioned during the referendum (at least South of the border), as you'd think the risk of the UK splitting would be a... [ more ]

Enthusiastic Contrafibularities Thanks for that El. It is isn't it. Very interesting. [ more ]

New form of "tech support" scam to be aware of
Enthusiastic Contrafibularities No they don't give up Baz and it's not likely they will either. We as users must be ever vigilant and I think there is some personal responsibility on each of us to understand how financial institutions communicate with us and to be suspicious of anything that looks irregular or untoward. I don't even respond to texts from my bank. I don't use hotspots for online banking as they can be spoofed. Always use my data allowance. In fact if I don't know the caller on my mobile I never answer. Call... [ more ]

Enthusiastic Contrafibularities The one in the centre of Sheffield is closing down. I have always found them quite expensive tbh. The coop seem to be struggling as a company. I don't hold out much hope in the future against the Addis of this world. [ more ]

Extremely Fluffy Fluffy Thing Yes, I was 100% behind Cameron Stout [ more ]
Enthusiastic Contrafibularities At first I thought you were talking about Big Brother's Cameron. [ more ]
Extremely Fluffy Fluffy Thing He keep on about how we should listen to the experts, who don't think we should leave the EU. But I reckon HE'S not listening, because as far as I see, the experts have only ever said 'IT COULD'. In my book that means there's as much chance that 'IT COULDN'T'! [ more ]

Labour MP Jo Cox has died after shooting.
El Loro The man accused of killing the Labour MP Jo Cox has appeared in court. Thomas Mair told Westminster Magistrates' Court, "Death to traitors, freedom for Britain", when asked to confirm his name. Mr Mair, 52, is charged with murder, GBH, possession of a firearm with intent to commit an indictable offence and possession of an offensive weapon. He was remanded in custody. [ more ]

We badly need new HM's.
Extremely Fluffy Fluffy Thing I don't think they know what the word TASK means anymore! [ more ]
Syd What happened to the 'TASKS'?....give them something to occupy their minds (no matter how hard it might be for some of them) rather than just let them wallow in their own shallow activities and conversation. [ more ]
Enthusiastic Contrafibularities I really hate Ryan and Marco but this type of character seems to be popular with the Towie/MIC/Kyle/Georgia Bore generation. From what I have seen there is very little that can be done to make the show better. Unless it's a vote to execute!!! [ more ]
