Thanks EC

Last year, admittedly when the cygnets where nearly fully grown, I was surrounded by them

They trooped down from the little pool to the big one but a fisherman was in their well worn entry to the pool. I was actually in amongst them when they went both ways. Surrounded by 6 very large cygnets and 2 even larger parents

I just stood there filming. They paid me no attention whatsoever

They are fine as long as you don't move suddenly or try to hurt their cygnets

It's the same with the ones on the video. They are fine as long as there are no sudden movements

Last year when I was filming them as they where sunbathing on the pathway, the male swan ambled right up to within a few inches, literally, of me and then turned around and went back to his family again

They are big when they stand up to their full height out of the water

I have been making short videos and and taking piccies since 2008 off and on. This pair are used to me by now. I talk to them and it reassures them I guess because I have never had a problem

Moonie

As I was cutting the grass the other weekend I spotted a butterfly fluttering around and landing on some of the thicker cut stems (I think it was drinking the sap), so I went into the house to get my camera and just as I was about to press the shutter, it flew off........and did not return!

It was one of these:-

Once upon a time I had an SLR camera, it has been somewhat abandoned these past few years. I want to get a digital one, but keep forgetting to look into it!

If you have not looked at cameras in a while I think you may be surprised how good the quality is for the money you pay.

I was considering a new 'bridge' camera as an intermediate step before moving to DSLR. When I finally go DSLR I know I will need an excellent macro lens for all my flower/wildlife pics and a good telephoto for the objects too far for a a standard lens. The bird above would be so much sharper and detailed with a good DSLR and lens.

I was waiting for my bus tonight and saw a butterfly dancing around in the grass. It eventually settled and I managed to get a quick snap with my smartphone. I got quite close up and it did not move. Hope you like @Baz@Yogi19 as I know you like them from talking in Springwatch.

Love it. Such a clear pic, EC.

Thanks Yogi. It was a one shot deal and I got within inches of the butterfly. Within seconds it flew away.  Now need to identify it.
