My sister had a shih tzu and I watched it overnight once when they went away.  It was harder than watching a baby!  I had to post on here several times asking for advice coz the little fluff ball had eaten something and started vomiting all round the place.

She was gorgeous though and a total headcase.  I would love to have taken her when they were rehoming her but she was just too much hard work.

We've had a house full of people all weekend, plus extras for a party Saturday. I stood and cooked for 8 hours, but cheated by buying a tray of Baklava as sweet treats. That was my biggest mistake.

Someone gave Gloria the sweet treat, she's allergic to nuts.

Thankfully I keep Piriton in the house for her, so she didn't swell up and die.

Poor Gloria, it's a good job you had some Piriton handy.

Yogi, we always have them in since her first HEAD SWELLING episode.

but do you know, our vet told us to keep Piriton in the house for her. We ran out once and I went to the Chemist and said I needed Piriton, they asked who it was for, when it said the dog they wouldn't sell it to me.

That's shocking! You'll know in future to say you need the Piriton for yourself.

I was at the vet with my son and his labrador recently and the vet was saying that any illness we can get, dogs can get too, and a lot of treatments are similar. Years ago my dad's vet told him to give their old dog a daily aspirin to help with arthritic pain.

So, I've had the weirdest encounter tonight. A person, who I origanlly thought was my friends son, sat on the kerb outside my house. I went and sat next to them to talk, it turned out it was some woman in a hoodie, who had no idea where she was, she told me, and I could see, she had run off from her beating husband.

Sat there for 30 minutes trying to get family numbers from her. I even invited her in to my house to try to help her. She kept saying she had to find the black path, and then ran off. I felt sick with worry, so I rang the Police 101 number, they were a bit shit at first. But they did ring me back to say they had found her and she was home.

I asked "at home with her husband who has been beating her, which is what she told me", they just said "all we can tell you is she said to say thank you to you for being nice to her"  and I said, "but she has been beaten which is very obvious in her appearance" and I got told, unless she files a complaint they can't do anything.

I echo what Ells said. Poor woman.

Around 18 months ago I had to go to Hull for work purposes. At lunch I managed to get a few hours to walk around. Although I did not find Hull the most pretty of cities, I did manage to find some nice streets with museum's and interesting shops.

I also wanted to go to the deep while in Hull but ran out of time.

That's the trouble...they can't. Women's Aid is the place....support and advice. I worked in one briefly and to be honest it was so shocking hearing the stories of the women who use it. One woman I will never forget was terrified because her husband was due to be let out of jail (he had been in for attempted murder...of her)and was coming back home. They were installing a panic button for if he tries it again. You did what you could Cinds and the sad truth is that she knows that if she presses charges he will take it out on her.

Aldous Huxley wrote a short book about it.

Why The Doors were called "The Doors", so I've been told.
