I ordered a new American fridge freezer through appliances Direct 2 weeks ago (due to be delivered next tue) They've just emailed me saying the item is no longer available! I rang and there is nothing similar near that price so all they could do was offer a refund.... I declined as i wanted to find out if there was anything else i could do about it... the fridge was £500 (very good price.. the closest they can do £780!) No offer of a discount or anything...... Anyone know any laws or have any tips on how to get something like i ordered without spending another £280 I'm gutted.

Yes Erin, it was new though and only £494 with ice a water.... cheapest i could find, i would love to ring them back with a load of consumers rights jargon and spout off about how they've had my money for 2 wks so entered into a contract blah blah. I just need the bullets

Aw I was just about to link you to Martin Lewis' facebook.  Not sure how good he is at getting back to PMs but I know people post queries on his statuses and he replies to them.  He's that MoneySavingExpert person.

If you've decided to be refunded surely you're entitled to ask for interest to be paid on the amount of money they had since they received it.

Yeah Cinds, it was price increased by £130 the day after i bought it and the day after that it was sold out.. The guy said it was Beko who had let them down.. They'd agreed to supply them but didn't, he'd had loads of calls about the same product. I'm actually glad in a way (now I've calmed down lol) I was a bit iffy about buying Beko to start with.

Just recently I have had to replace my cooker, fridge, iron, tumble drier and now my toaster.  I could kill my partner.  I blame him for the drier and toaster.  The rest are just normal wear and tear but he used the drier every single day, 3 or 4 times a day for drying work clothes before work, single items for his bath, small loads when he washes 2 tshirts and a pair of socks and then maybe I'd be lucky if he loaded a full wash into the drier.  What used to irritate me the most was when he'd open the washing machine, see I'd already washed a full load and instead of putting it in the drier he'd put in his pants/socks/tshirt and re-do the whole lot OR take out one tshirt or whatever that he was looking for a dry that on his own.

Does anyone want him?  He's lazy, snores, grumpy and breaks appliances but he's really loving and will do mostly anything you ask  Open to offers.
