Barclays Bank are in the process of changing customers sort codes and IBAN numbers  to comply with new government legislation. 

I pay my Virgin Media accounts by direct debit.

I have just had a letter from Virgin Media not only stating my Virgin package account number but my full bank account number and new sort code  

Not even Barclays put my full bank account number on the letter I received from them yesterday stating my new sort code.

I am so angry. What if the letter had been stolen or "misplaced"

I would write back immediately Moonie.

 

Use phrases like:

 

"This is totally unacceptable"

"Have you learnt nothing from all of the recent security breaches"

"Who is responsible for this letter as this is a situation that BBC's Watchdog need to know about"

 

I suspect that if you write it well, you may even get a reduction in your costs as well as an apology along with the fact that you may have prevented others from becoming a victim of identity fraud.
