Evening Both.

Not a bad day, a lot of sun in-between clouds.

Not a lot to do in the garden until i get some deliveries.

Going out for brekkie tomorrow then going for Flu Jab.

Had a nice Chicken Roast Dinner tonight, O/H made it, we seem to take it in turns.

Whoever makes it doesn't seem to matter, they both taste the same.

Mollie, It's nice to have all the garden tools, makes life a lot easier.

About 4 people bring me their grass cuttings for my compost box.

The seat covers should keep the benches ok for the winter.

All the electrical or mechanical equipment can go in the garage or the sheds.

CBB finished Thursday because Strictly starts Friday (today)

I think the weekend should be good, we have a (high) over the country.

Formular 1 the weekend as well.

Emptybox, yes, Autumn here ok, chilly in the garden this morning, 14C but sunny.

Lots more leaves falling all ready.

Another apple fell this morning, it was lovely, it was one of the ones i had put a waxed bag over with a taste like Cox's Orange.

That new customer isn't the sort you need, waste of time by the looks of it.

I thought James would win but i liked Natasha.

Emptybox

You are like me, don't watch anything whilst CBB is on. So have plenty recorded. eg Doc Martin. And the dancing starts tonight, same time as Goggleobox, so I'll have to record it.

Yes quite chilly for September, but I guess it never really warmed up this summer at all. As long as it is dry then I am not complaining though.

Hope you are feeling well today.

Hicky

Glad you too got the sun today, I got loads of washing nice and dry today.

Enjoy your brekkie out tomorrow, a nice treat for flu jab day.

Wish we could bring our grass cuttings to you too. OH has to drive to the tip with them because dusties won't take them.

That makes sense finishing CBB before Strictly starts.

I am extremely pleased any time we see a High over us, aren't you? (especially if it visits us on weekends!).

We had a roast too, but we were lazier than you and OH, as it was not cooked by me or OH, it was cooked by Toby. We got 2 courses for ÂĢ6.50. I had roast veg, OH had my meat and I had a rhubarb sundae that was lovely, ice cream and custard with rhubarb crumble.

Didn't have free minute today, so much washing for mum to do as well as ours whilst the sun shines. Had paperwork, plus had to go through old invoices to find why agency asking for extra money from back in June, but when I phoned social services about it, social worker not available today.

Time for Gogglebox.

have a good evening xxx

M

Hi there.

Quite sunny and warm today. Got plenty done, including cutting a beech hedge.

Hopefully the weather this weekend will be good, because I'm going across to my Brother's. Having a bit of a party for my SiL's 50th Birthday.

Giving her a bottle of nice wine, and taking some of my excess tomatoes.

Enjoy your brekkie out tomorrow Hicky. Don't suppose you'll enjoy the flu jab so much.

Quite handy these apples falling in their own bags.

Glad you got the sun to dry your washing Mollie.

Thought you had a guy come to do your grass for you? Or was that at the last place?

Have you not got a corner of the garden you could make a heap of the grass cuttings? Or is it too open?

Glad you enjoyed your Toby takeaway (or is it a sit in place?).

Hope you get the care agency fees sorted.

Enjoyed Gogglebox tonight. Now watching a recording of Time Crashers.

emptybox

Evening Both.

Enjoyed SCD just now, some are very good, considering their first dance they all did good.

Craig was a bit rough on some.

Mollie, yes, brekkie was lovely, got Jab ok.

I'm turning the compost heap at the mo, think i have too much grass tbh.

The woman over the road is going to cut down a couple of small trees in her garden so i'll put them through the tree shredder, that should give me more brown stuff for the compost.

It was nice here today, should be nice tomorrow as well.

Yes, the Toby does do the food at a good price, you need to get in at the right time to get it all hot etc.

It does make a lot of washing having your Mums as well.

Why does the agency want back money off you i wonder?

Emptybox, you should have good weather to go to your Brothers anyway, it looks good for the whole weekend.

Hope your SIL enjoys her wine and Toms?

the Flu jab took about 1 second, O/H won't have it as she says it doesn't agree with her.

Watching Dr Who, not sure why though.

Will watch the Grand Prix tomorrow,

Hicky

Evening All.

Hope your enjoying being at your Brothers Emptybox.

And hope your not overstretched Mollie.

A lovely day here, sun all day.

Went out to brekkie with my lad and his lads to the Toby, eat all you want serve yourself, ideal eh.

Only ÂĢ3 something for the grown ups, less for children.

Cleared out the bed that will be used for the Raspberries next.

It had the last of the Cucumbers, they polished them off today.

Had another baked apple for tea with cream and syrup.

Glad Lewis won the Grand Prix again, beat his mate anyway.

Been trying to turn over the compost heap but it seems a bit stiff, it's like clay, mind you it's only grass and paper/card from the paper shredder.

Will have to get some more brown material, leaves and branches chopped up.

X-Factor now.

Hicky

both

quick hi from me as haven't been online over weekend, been mainly out at the elvis festival, or washing or looking after mum.

won't be around 1st thing Monday as have to go with son to college, then do food shopping.

so catch up with you both when I get home.

Hope Empybox enjoyed his weekend at brothers and SIL's party.

Glad you got to Toby for brekkie Hicky.

Yes Emptybox Toby isn't a take away, you help yourself to either brekkie or roast depending on time of day and eat it there.

Wonderful weather all weekend here too Hicky, let;s hope it stayed nice for Emptybox.

Goodnight both, xx

I am shattered with all the fresh air and walking today again, so bed time for me.

M

Evening guys.

Back from my Brother's

Had a nice time. family meal in a restaurant, then a small party back at the house.

Weather this weekend not too bad.

Cloudy on saturday, but a nice sunny day today.

Helped my Brother build a gate this afternoon, before I drove home.

Have to go back there in a couple of weeks, as I am youngest nephew sitting for a few days while they are on holiday.

Hopefully the grass cutting will have slowed down by then.

Hi Hicky. Yes it's not good to have too much grass in your compost heap, as it just goes black and horrible.

Hi Mollie. Sounds like that Elvis festival has tired you out. Glad we had good weather for it.

Didn't see much of X-Factor, but just watched my recording of Doctor Who.

You must have some idea why you watched it Hicky?

emptybox

Evening Both.

Another lovely day here.

Just pottering about, the gardener who was working next door gave me some branches to put in the shredder.

gave a bag of Asian Pears to next door, they are very juicy, crunchy and have a mild Melon flavour, but it's said that the tree has so many pears it can break the branches.

But mine is a Cordon so shouldn't have that problem.

Took the last big apple off the Ellison's Orange, it weighed 13.5 Oz, massive.

Have ordered some Spring Onions seeds (White Lisbon) that i can plant in the Autumn.

Mollie, You are busy, see you when you get a minute after taking your son and shopping.

Emptybox, that was nice, a family meal in a restaurant is always nice.

And a party, you are spoilt.

Helped building a gate, thats a change from cutting grass.

Don't fancy baby sitting, even if it's not a baby, think baby sitting is even more scary.

the compost is a big sticky, was thinking of adding some shredded leaves and branches in layers to break it up a bit then leave it for a year but keep turning it over, i have 2 compost boxes so i can transfer fer it from 1 to the other.

It will take a few days to transfer it once as i don't hurry.

The smell is ok though

Watched X-Factor, Watched Strictly.

I watched Dr Who the other night, mainly because it was on, and when i started i couldn't stop.

Hicky

both

Emptybox

so pleased to hear you had an enjoyable visit to your brother's. What did you eat at the meal? That could be interesting babysitting your nephew. At around that age, I suspect he will either not come out of his bedroom, or alternatively you could find yourself in the middle of a noisy teenage party whilst mum and dad are out of the way.

Hicky

wow, that is some big apple you had there.

Asian pears are lovely, bet your neighbour was pleased.

Had a bad day...OH woke me 1am saying he needed the hosital, he was in awful pain in his back/side, by then he had been sick 3 times and was on all fours in agony, then sick again. I rang 999 as he never makes a fuss over trivia, and they asked questions and said they were busy but would come when they could. They arrived an hour and half later, and when they got OH in ambulance, they set drip up for pain relief and to stop sickness. Did lots of tests at A and E including x ray, then sent us home 6am to come back at 9am for a CT scan. After scan they sent him back to A and E, and urologist says he has big kidney stone, so has been given drugs to try and shift it and goes back in 2 weeks. I just knew he had not been drinking enough water recently. So hope the drugs work.
Going to be an awkward week with mum's transport to sort now . Will have to try and find a taxi that takes wheelchairs.
I am so tired with no sleep last night..

The drug they put OH on is tamsulosin. Is that the same one you take Emptybox and can cause dizziness? I told him not to do that long drive to work if it makes him feel off.

Goodnight both, can't think what I am diong any more due to lack of sleep.

M

Evening.

Not bad day here. Sunny and warm this afternoon. Chilly this evening though.

Sorry to hear about your OH's ordeal last night Mollie. Kidney stones can be very painful, my Dad suffered with them for a while.

Seems a long time for the ambulance to get to you, even if it turned out to be not life threatening, they couldn't have been sure of that.

Yes, Tamsulosin is the med I'm on. In the case of kidney stones it relaxes the muscles in the urinary tract, to make it easier to pass the stone.

The worst time I suffered dizzyness was about 24hrs after first taking the medication. I got out of bed to go to the loo and had a very dizzy turn and had to lie down again for an hour or so. I felt a bit dizzy for the rest of the day.

It hasn't been as bad as that since, but if I get up from lying down too quickly, or if I get out of a hot bath too quickly. I can feel momentarily dizzy.

It also can have some side effects in the 'man' department. Get your OH to Google "tamsulosin retrograde".

And also can give you a stuffed up nose and blocked sinus.

But your OH shouldn't be on it for very long, to get rid of a kidney stone.

Hope you get a better night's sleep tonight.

For the meal I started with a black pudding and chorizo salad. For main I had grilled salmon fillet with potatoes and mixed vegetables, and for sweet I had sticky toffee pudding with cream.

Yes I'm a bit worried about looking after my 16 year old nephew as he's at a very difficult age.

TBH I would prefer him to stay in his room, rather than having a teenage party.

I'm supposed to make sure he eats at night, and gets up in the morning to go to his work experience. Not sure who's supposed to get me up in the morning though?

I'm looking after him for the first part of the week, and my oldest nephew (19) takes over for the rest of the week.

Hi Hicky. Glad you had a nice day pottering about the garden.

Bet your neighbour enjoys those juicy pears.

Sounds like the last apple off the tree was a mahoosive one.

It's easy to get addicted to Doctor Who, you'll have to be careful.

I watched the Autopsy of Amy Winehouse tonight.

I can guess that you weren't interested in looking at the red moon last night Hicky?

And Mollie, you'd have had other things on your mind (unless you looked out of the ambulance window?).

I looked out at midnight, before I went to bed, and the moon just looked normal, so i didn't bother trying to wake up later.

Evening \both.

another very nice day.

Sun all day, can't be bad.

Gave my neighbour all the tomatoes off the plants, her relations will make chutney.

A neighbour opposite, her husband died a few weeks ago from the big C, she was cutting a couple of trees down, i said i would take the branches and put them through the shredder.

Got more money back from the TV people, got a cheque for last year back, it's going in my own account rather than the joint one, goody.

Mollie, sorry to hear about your O'H, kidney stones are dreadful, hope the Tamsulosin works for him.

Get some sleep as soon as possible.

Emptybox, didn't you take an alarm clock with you? i always travel with one of those.

Mind you, you could use your phone alarm.

I wouldn't look at a red moon if it came into our road.

And i wouldn't be awake at midnight.

Have been going to bed later and getting up later, which is a start, been starting to sleep at 9 or 10pm, getting up at 7.30.

Don't know if the dark mornings or the cooler nights.

Hicky

Emptybox

thanks for the tamsulosin info. As it seems quite common, I warned OH about the dizziness incase he gets it and wonders why. He insisted going back to work today, but looks real tired, said he aches from all the sickness but the kidney stone pain has gone.

at you having to get yourself awake in order to wake up the 16 year old. Yes generally at that age, you do have to remind them to eat and get up. (especially if they are like my lad and enjoy gaming.)

Your meal out sounds good, and nice and healthy too.

Yes Emptybox, suprisingly OH and I saw the red moon. We had just got out of the ambulance at A and E and the ambulance driver wheeled OH into a postion so he could see it. It was really weird. It was particially eclipsed when we saw it, and very red. Whilst we waited in corridor of A and E, hospital staff kept dashing past us so they could get a glimpse of it too.
Pity you missed it Emptybox.
It would of been around 3am when we saw it.

Hicky

glad you too are getting this lovely weather. I reckon we deserve it after the bad summer we had.

Tomato chutney will be a nice use of your tomatoes for your neighbour.

Glad to hear you got a bit of a windfall from the tv people. I guess you will spend it in your garden?

Sounds like your body clock is starting to adjust nicely.

I got in a few hours extra sleep last night, so feel much better today, I do not recommend being awake all night in A and E. I was really feeling cold too, probably due from tiredness, but it was cold in the A and E at night, even the nurses had their fleeces on. They must be saving on the heating at night.

Goodnight both, another early night for me tonight. xxx

M

Hi Mollie and Hicky.

Lovely sunny day here. Like summer this afternoon, but of course it cools quickly in the evening.

At my new customer again. They changed their minds and decided they did want me to cut some of their hedges after all, so I was doing that today.

Still getting tomatoes off my plants Hicky, although not as many as a few weeks ago. Still plenty ripening on the vine, but I guess I'll have to pick them soon before the first frosts.

Glad you got some more pocket money back from the TV licence.

I'll probably take an alarm clock with me when I go to look after my nephew. But if he's got to get up at a particular time, he should have his own alarm.

Glad you're getting into a more usual bedtime pattern.

Hi Mollie, glad your OH was well enough to go to work today.

Hope he's able to pass that stone without too much pain.

Seems you were there at the right time to catch the blood moon, even though I bet you wished you were tucked up in bed.

Yeah I would have liked to have seen it, but I couldn't be bothered staying up for it.

Strange that A&E was cold? I thought Hospitals were always kept warm. Must have been saving money on heating, as you say.

Watched that 'Body Donors' prog tonight. Quite moving.

emptybox

Evening Both.

Another lovely day here.

Did some more branch shredding, some leaves go straight through so am thinking of using the leaf vac to see if it can chop them up.

My Polycarbonate sheets came today, have fitted 6, not all have the fixings in yet but thats easy enough.

I bought the wood to steel hanger bolts and i drill a 10mm hole in the plastic then fix a 6mm hanger screw into the wood and then out the washer and wing nut on, have ordered rubber washers to go against the plastic.

Still turning over the compost, been a bit busy though, doing a bit of each in case the weather changes.

I put one of the bottom sections of plastic in place then marked and drilled the fixing holes, i made a small template of the fixing positions then marked the other 4 sheets so they could be drilled, it made it easier to install them.

The problem with the top sheets is, i can't manage it on my own as it's too big, i have one fitted as O/H gave me a lift, i will use these measurements to mark the other 4 out then get O/H to give me a lift, once they are in position i can fix them by myself.

This way of fixing means i can easily remove them for cleaning etc.

Mollie, when i had a non painful kidney stone i was asked to wee into a container or filter it so i could keep the stone to see if it came out, it didn't as it was stuch in the pipes to the bladder, they had to go in and get it, but i'm pretty sure i am still full of kidney stones as they never did sort them.

Only got up twice in the night, mind you i'm going to sleep later now as i'm not so tired.

The TV windfall will come in very handy, lots of things on my wish list still.

Glad you got some extra sleep you sure need it.

The problem with being retired is, you never stop, there's just so much to do all the time.

Emptybox, strange customer, wonder why they changed their mind about the hedge, maybe the machine cutting it didn't work out.

I could have left the tomatoes on the 8 plants but i want to tidy the pots up and prepare them for the new trees later in the year.

O/H went in my big shed and got an onion out of the sack thats hanging up with them in.

It's going colder and colder at night, i've put the heater on in the big shed, need to get a heater for the garden shed as i don't want the stuff getting damp over winter, need to put power in first though.

My wee urge is getting more controlled, i can hold the urge till it recedes which gives me some extra time, i suppose it's just a matter of time before i'm back to normal.

A&E could be kept cool because warmth causes disease and bacteria to flourish.

Hicky

Evening Hicky.

Yes, another lovely day here as well.

Got a few jobs done, but also dug up the rest of my potatoes. Not a bad crop; should see me for a good few weeks.

Glad your plastic sheets came, and you've been able to get on with fixing them.

Presumably this is for the gazebo?

Yes it's getting chilly in the evenings. haven't put any heating on yet, apart from my electric blanket on the bed, but it can't be far off, as it's now October.

My Dad had a succession of painful kidney stones in one of his kidneys for a number of years. In the end he had to have one of his kidneys removed when he was a couple of years younger than I am now.

He never had any further kidney trouble after that and coped fine on one kidney for nearly 30 years.

Glad you are gradually getting back control of the urge to pee.

I think a lack of communication is to blame for my customer's 'change of mind'.

It's the wife who arranged for me to come, but it seems to be the father-in-law who turns up and told me they didn't want me to cut the hedge because a tractor was going to do it.

But I think the tractor was only going to cut the top of it down, and they'd wanted me to cut the sides of it. Perhaps the FiL hadn't realised?

I hate these jobs where I'm not certain what I'm supposed to be doing.

emptybox

Evening Emptybox.

Glad you got a good crop of spuds, i don't bother to grow them as i don't have the room, and they are so cheap, in Costco i can get a sack for a couple of pounds.

I've fitted all the sheets on the Gazebo now, still got more fixing to add, just put in enough to hold it.

Had to order more fixings, underestimated what i needed.

Ordered rubber washers to go under the stainless steel penny washers.

Finished putting the neighbours branches through the shredder, quite scary tbh.

Some of the leaves went straight through so after it was all done i had a lot of shredded branch so i ran the leaf vac, it sucked it all up and shredded it even smaller, got a lot more to do though yet.

Not sure what to do with it yet, might use it as a mulch.

Finished turning over the compost heap, must have half a cubic metre, an awful lot, think i will let it stand for a year, will keep turning it though.

Might add some of the shredded tree into the mix to help loosen it up.

It was 4C in the garden this morning.

At times i am concerned that they never zapped all the kidney stones i had, but not sure if it's worth the bother.

Strange your dad having his kidney out unless it had been damaged by the stones, also they might not have had the equipment like they have not to zap them.

Got a survey to fill in from the NHS about the Hip Replacement.

Strange about the hedge, do you need a ladder or steps to cut the sides?

Was looking at the sky about 4.30pm, not a cloud to be seen, O/H went and got me a Big Mac, yummy.

Hope Mollie isn't too stressed and her hubby isn't in any more pain.

Hicky

both

Emptybox

Yes i can understand you not being too fond of working with a customer who doesn't seem to know what they want you to do. That is good you have a good potato crop, grow your own always taste the best.

That is interesting about your father doing so well on 1 kidney for so long. How are you feeling lately? Hope you are well.

Hicky

glad to hear the gazebo is coming along so well. You'll have to show us some more photos soon. Lucky the weather has been so good lately so you can get on with it. I too love to see the great clear skies we have now.

Sounds like your neighbour's branches have kept you busy.

That is good that you only need to get up a couple of times in the night now.

Specialist rang and asked OH to go back to see him this morning.

He said he is concerned about the state of OH's kidney as the stone is so large and he doesn't think it will come out on its own. So poor things has to go in hospital Monday morning for an op, like you mention HIcky, to zap it with a laser. Surgeon said it might not work, so he'd have to do a stent. Hope it doesn't come to this as he said that is painful and more complicated as he has to go back for it to be removed.

But specialist is hopefull OH will only be in hospital for a day, hope so. He is still in pain today, but nowhere near as bad as it was. I have been ringing around to try and sort mum's care and transport out for Monday as I want to go with OH, there might be a lot of hanging around for him, as specialist doesn't know when he can do op. He has to be there by 7.30am.

Did you have a general anaesthetic when yours were zapped HIcky?

He said OH will have to have one.

Not much on tv tonight, is there?

Will watch my recordings I think.

Goodnight both xx

M

Hi Mollie and Hicky.

Another lovely day here.

Got some work done this afternoon.

Had to go to the supermarket this morning as I'd run out of a lot of stuff.

Didn't go at the weekend as I was at my Brother's.

Even so, I still forgot some things for some reason, so I've no chips in the house. Disaster.

Unfortunately this nice weather is due to change to wet and windy next week.

Really sorry to hear that your OH has to go into hospital Mollie.

Hope they can clear the stone with the laser, and he doesn't need the more complicated op.

Not quite sure of the exact circumstances around my Dad's kidney op, as I was at University at the time, and probably preoccupied with my own concerns (like any 19/20 yr old ).

But it must have been serious as he was running a very busy hotel at the time, and had to give that up and semi-retire for a while to recover from the op.

He later on bought the hotel round here, for the last few years of his career.

It might have been more than just kidney stones.

I'm not feeling too bad at the moment Mollie. A few symptoms, but nothing that's stopping me getting on with things.

Hi Hicky.

I might have given up spud growing as well, but I got some seed potatoes from my Uncle that are blight resistant, and are delicious to eat.

Got given those about 3 years ago, and have just kept some for seed for the next year, and then the next etc.

But if I don't get a good crop one year I'll probably not bother the next.

Good work finishing putting the sheets onto the gazebo.

Still having fun with the shredder I see. Just be careful you don't shred yourself in the process.

Yes, you should probably leave the compost for a year before you spread it or dig it in.

I still needed a ladder to cut the sides of the hedge. Could have used their tall step ladder I suppose, but it's not very stable. I could have done the top as well from the ladder, but was just following instructions to leave it for the tractor.

They want me to strim next week. Unless they change their mind.

Watched Chris Tarrant's Extreme Railway Journeys tonight.

It was OK, but I found him a bit patronising to the locals.

emptybox

Evening Both.

Another nice day.

Went out for brekkie and called in the bank to out the tV cheque in.

Did i say i ordered Birds, Butterflies etc for the clear sheet on the gazebo, some came this afternoon.

Have entered the Postcode Lottery, i'll give it a go, stopped the main lottery as couldn't afford it.

Completed all the fixing holes in the Polycarbonate sheet and drilled the pilots in the wood, fitted all the screw/bolts in place, got half of them done, waiting for more stuff to come.

Hoovered all the plastic drilling swarf with the garden vac, no problem.

Mollie, Yes, a large kidney stone wouldn't be able to pass, if they can shatter it by lazer it might work, but you still have to get the smashed stone bits out.

He might be saying they have to put a stent in to allow the stone to pass down a tube with a stent, I had a stone removed years ago that was in one of the tubes from a kidney, they used a camera and a tool with a grabber at the end, i still have the stone on my bedside cabinet, it's like a broken piece of concrete, it would never have come out on it's own.

For my stone removal i had a general, my last 2 Ops i had the one in my back, as they were bothered about my breathing.

Emptybox, finished all the shredding, now i don't know what to do with it, haven't made my mind up yet.

I could use some as a mulch when i plant the seeds or plants.

I'll bag it till then, was going to add some to the compost pile but not sure if i should, think it should be kept separate.

I've been watching the TV sitting at the Puter till 9pm then getting in bed and watching it till 10pm , i was up at 6.30 this morning but that was ok, i could have stayed in later thought i'd get up and make a coffee, good job i didn't get brekkie as O/H came in from work at 8.15 and suggested we go out for brekkie.

Didn't see Chris Tarrant, been watching Great British Menu & Great British Bake-off.

Oh, and i don't like Chris Tarrant.

Hicky

all

Emptybox

glad to hear you aren't feeling too bad right now.

Oh dear at your chip disaster. ... hope you find a suitable alternative.

Which supermarket do you go to now?

Not easy having to use a ladder for the hedge I should imagine, take care, you don't want to take a tumble.

Yes I guess your strimming job might of morphed into something else by the itme you next visit.

Hicky

bet you enjoyed your brekkie out.

Your birds/butterflies will look nice.

at your kidney stone on the cabinet. Better there than still stuck inside you though. Yes think the surgeon will try the camera and grabber on my OH first, then he might have to put the stent in too if it doesn't work. Then I think he has to go back to take the stent out.

Your body clock has adjusted well to retirement now you don't have to get up so early for work.

Gosh another beautiful day for October, really warm too till the sun went down.

Met mum's carer and her family on the seafront today, mum was enjoying her ice cream and cake with them when I got there.

Shame you say this good weather won't last much longer Emptybox.

Goodnight both xxx

M

Hi both.

Another lovely day here too.

I normally go to Sainsburys Mollie, but think I may pop into Lidl sometime over the weekend and pick up some chips and some other bits that i forgot on Thursday.

Glad your Mum was out and about with her carers enjoying the sunshine, and the obligatory ice cream.

Those stickers will look good on your gazebo Hicky. You had some on the old one I remember. To stop birds flying into it?

Haven't tried the postcode lottery. Just do the national Lotto and the European one. Used to do the Health one, but haven't done that for ages.

Yes, I would think the shreddings would make a great mulch.

Funny you keeping your kidney stone.

Hope the good weather continues over the weekend.

Could do with getting some work done on my own garden, plus maybe one job.

emptybox

Evening Both.

Saturday 3rd Oct.

A cloudy day today, foggy early on, misty later, some sun mid afternoon.

The rubber washers came, fitted some of those.

Also peel off birds and butterfly's came, put most of those on, they can be moved as they are not sticky.

My Onion seeds came, also the carrot seeds, have planted a pack of the onion seeds.

Mollie, yes, if the stone is big it probably wouldn't pass down from the kidney to the bladder, fitting a stent in the pipe will make it easier to get the stone through, whether its in bits or one piece it they need room.

Yes, body clock is getting better, don't feel as tired at night so can watch the tv now till 10pm, which means i have a better night.

Only got up once last night.

Emptybox, yes, had the stickers on the other Gazebo, have fitted 25 of each birds and butterfly's, they look good, movable of course.

I think the postcode lottery is worth a go, they have prizes every day of the week.

Used to do the Health lottery but didn't like it at all.

I think i will use the shredding as a mulch, for the raised beds as the tree tubs need manure as a mulch in the spring.

I have so much i will bag it up and keep it.

Hicky

Hi Hicky.

Foggy start here, so I didn't get my paid job done as it needed dry grass.

But a sunny afternoon, so i got the work in my own garden done. Strimming, hedge cutting and mowing.

That's good that your stickers, washers and seeds came.

Glad that you are now able to stay up till 10pm and watch the TV. Not that there was a lot on tonight, if you don't like rugby.

Watched some of the match, then watched my recording of Doctor Who. Are you hooked on that now as well Hicky?

emptybox

Evening Emptybox.

Not a bad day really 15C and mostly sunny all day, hardly any wind.

My lad was here at 8.30 to take us for brekkie, O/H didn't get home till almost 10am.

Went to the Toby, yummy.

run some more of the tree chippings and leaves through the Vac for a double shred, have started putting it on the raised beds and the compost heap.

Might as well use it i have loads.

We had tea in the Gazebo, a BBQ of chops, burgers and sausages with salad.

It's so easy on this big unit and with it all being covered in it's great, will probably be using in through the winter.

Have ordered a garden Trug, 2 rolls of bubble wrap, a roll of garden fleece to protect the tubs and plants through the winter.

At least you got some work done in the garden,

Watched a bit of Dr Who but think there was something on elsewhere.

Hicky

both

Hicky

glad you got to enjoy another toby brekkie, and your tea in the gazebo.

Emptybox

glad the weather was good enough to get work done in your garden.

Weather not bad here either this weekend.

Been busy with mum, OH not in bad pain, just discomfort.

Going to hospital with OH tomorrow, have to be there by 7.30am.

Goodnight both x

M

Evening both.

Not too bad here. Mostly cloudy, but with a little sunshine this afternoon.

Just went to Sainsburys in the end, because I needed fuel as well as groceries.

Got my chips anyway.

Had steak and chips for supper.

Glad you enjoyed your Toby brekkie with your family Hicky. And your BBQ in the gazebo.

Good idea to start using all your shredded material as mulch and on the compost heap.

Good luck to your OH at the hospital tomorrow Mollie.

Watched X factor. Not sure why Simon wasn't pleased about getting the Overs? What else did he expect if it was a public vote?

Plus, if he hadn't wanted the older ones, he shouldn't have grown a grey beard.

Not great weather forecasted for this week. That's bad news for me, as I'll be occupied for much of the following week at my Brother's, so I was hoping to get on with work this week.

emptybox

Evening Both.

A wet start to the day.

Some more bird stickers came.

My extra fastenings for the gazebo plastic sheet came, i fitted them all, it's finished now.

Had brekkie in the gazebo, it's pretty sheltered.

rang the plastics people to tell them that some of the sheets had the covering material slashed and it had scored the sheet in places.

They said they would send me another set.

I made a Lamb curry for tea, Rendang of course.

Mollie, the Toby only cost ÂĢ23 for 3 adults and 2 children, thats all the breakfasts and drinks.

I can see us having a lot of meals in the gazebo, it's much more fun, and the food tastes better somehow.

Hope things go ok with your O/H on your Hospital visit.

Emptybox, I have steak quite a lot, mostly it's Ribeye though because the flavour is better than any other.

I will vac the containers of shredding's into the collecting bag, i want to try and get the leaves chopped as small as possible.

today wasn't a very nice day so didn't bother with the shreddings.

O/H had her car in for a service and MOT, passed, never had anything done on the brakes or exhaust for 8 years, fantastic.

And the body hasn't been touched, unlike mine.

Hicky

both

Emptybox

what a relief you are now with chips again.

Hope the weather is ok so you can manage to get some work done this week.

Hicky

that is a bargain at Toby for brekkie out, especially as you can help yourself.

And how nice you can now enjoy brekkie out in the gazebo too.

Your OH's car is doing well, what type is it?

OH's op got cancelled, the kids have coughs/colds and he woke in the night with a cold, so he phoned hospital and you can't have general anathestic if you are not well. Luckily he is not in pain, had to go to docs Friday.

I feel tired with stress of getting up early and getting ready to go, even order taxi, then it's all off again.

I now have a sore throat starting too.

On a good note, I enjoyed tv tonight. Corrie was brilliant with the wedding, so funny, then I watched the bbc1 Wayne Rooney documentary. I am not a fottie fan, but this was fascinating, so well put together. Never quite realised how young he was when he first started in the premier and what a good player. I only started watching because I knew Coleen and the kids were on, but enjoyed the whole show.

Goodnight both xxx

M

Mollie, Hicky.

Wet here most of the day, so no work done.

The sun peered out at 3.30pm, but went back to rain a 4pm.

Unfortunately the computer that was playing up has now given up the ghost, so looks like I will buy another one. Probably go for a second hand Core2duo one, as it's just for surfing the web and playing music etc in the dining room.

In the winter that's the warmest room (double glazed), so i tend to spend a lot of the day in there, so i need a computer in there.

At the moment I've moved my old Dell (13Â― yrs old) into there, but it's quite sluggish, even with a lightweight Linux running. The browser uses all of the 512MB RAM.

Think it's the motherboard gone on the Shuttle computer? I could try to buy another motherboard processor and RAM for it, but being a Shuttle it would be quite expensive, and I could buy a whole (2nd hand) system for the same money.

Sorry to hear your OH's op got cancelled Mollie, and you got all geared up for no reason.

Not nice for him to now have a cold on top of his kidney problems.

Didn't watch any of those programmes Mollie.

I watched the BBC2 thing on The Celts, with Alice Roberts and Neil oliver.

Hi Hicky.

That's good that you've now finished the gazebo.

Does that mean you'll have to redo some of it, when the new sheets come?

It's obviously very handy for your meals anyway.

Your OH's car sounds very reliable. Wish mine was the same. I have to pay out every year.

I only have steak as an occasional treat. This one was a sirloin. Very nice though.

emptybox

Wet this morning, but the sun came out about 11am.

Went to my new customer this afternoon and did 2 hours of strimming.

At least they didn't change their minds about that.

Watched Eternal Glory on ITV (sports stars competing), then Body Donors on 5, then 'My Transgender Kid' on 4, then the Katy Piper thing about tattoos etc.

Hope you got good weather for garden pottering Hicky?

emptybox

both

Emptybox

pity your computer finally gave up on you. Your Dell is going well though after over 13 years, even if it now sluggish.

Makes a change for your new customer to stick to their requirements.

Did you get some jobs done today?

hope weather was kind enough for you to get in your garden Hicky.

OH's cold quite bad, such a relief he told them he had a cold coming, he would of been quite ill otherwise after an op whilst developing this.

At least he is pain free now though.

Watched the last of that drama Dr Foster tonight, it was very good. And the final of Bake off.

Also good.

Goonight both xxx

M

Evening Both.

Not too bad today.

Ran the shredding through the Vac unit and it chopped it up further.

Covered 2 raised beds in the shreddings for the winter.

My rolls of bubble wrap and fleece has been posted, so should get them this week.

The long reach pruner has been sent also.

going for the annual breathing tests tomorrow afternoon at the Docs, a nurse does it, takes half an hour or more.

Went out for brekkie and a look around a garden centre, bought a new weeding fork and trowel, good ones.

Made an Apple & Raspberry Crumble yesterday, all from the garden, not the Crumble mind.

Mollie, O/H's car is a Perodua Myvi, a rubbish car but reliable, i don't like it myself.

http://www.whatcar.com/car-rev...back/summary/25634-5

Sorry O/H's Op was cancelled, can't be helped.

Emptybox, You can get some good cheap computers now, O/H was having trouble with her Motorola tablet so bought a Samsung this morning.

512 RAM isn't much good these days, minimum of 4 Gig is needed so it doesn't run slow, if you don't have enough ram the computer uses the hard drive area as ram, which is bad news.

If the Plastics company send me the plastic again i will replace the top 5 sheets, it's easy to do, the bottom sheets are behind a trellis so it's not noticeable.

Watched some of the Transgender kids, interesting.

weather looks ok for Thursday anyway.

Hicky

Evening All.

A lovely day here.

My extending lopper arrived.

Went to see the nurse this afternoon, my breathing hasn't changed, BP a little high, my weight has gone up 9 stone.

Am trying a new inhaler instead of the Spiriva one with loose with capsules.

This one has the capsules built in but you take it twice a day like the Seretide one but it is thrown away at the end of the month.

Then went for a cup of tea at DIL's, the little ones enjoy us being there, then we went for a meal, I had Mussels in wine then battered whiting then fruit tart and custard.

Hicky

both xx

Hicky

glad your breathing is ok, hope your new inhaler suits you. Nice that you got chance to see the little ones. Sounds like you have a nice meal too after.

Your OH's car looks a good little car, especially as it has kept going for so long without repairs.

Nice day here too, got lots of washing dry.

HOpe Emptybox had the nice weather too.

Watching the new thriller on itv now, not sure if it will be good or not as it is only episode 1.

Goodnight both xxx

M

Evening both.

Yes we had a nice day here. Got a lot of work done.

Probably started doing the last grass cuts of the season, although I usually check back at the end of October to see if they need a final one.

Glad your breathing is OK Hicky. That's quite a weight gain though?

Glad your long reach loppers arrived. Hope they are good ones?

I've got a set, but they aren't very good. You've got to pull a rope to operate them, which is very fiddly. Only use them occasionally.

Yes I'm looking to get a 2nd hand computer with a core2duo or core2quad with 4GB RAM.

Probably in the market for a new tablet as well, as my Motorola Xoom is getting a bit sluggish now as well.

No hurry though.

Hi Mollie. Sorry to hear your OH's cold is bad, but it's good that he's not getting pain from his kidney stone.

Yes the old Dell computer is doing well. It's built like a tank.

I've upgraded it over the years (to the highest the motherboard can take) and had to fit a new power supply.

It's too far behind the curve now though.

Thought of watching that new ITV thing, but decided to watch Chris Tarrant again instead.

He was in South America. Some very strange trains they've got. They had one that had been a bus, but was converted to run on rails.

Evening Both.

quite a nice day, dry, some sun, no wind, thats ok.

Didn't do a lot.

Slept in till 7.30 or 8am, put some more mulch down in the raised beds for the winter

Have booked the Toby carvery for midday Sunday with my lad and his lot.

O/H made a Roast dinner with Belly Pork, had apple sauce as well.

My Neighbour is away next week so going to try and trim some of the small branches of the big Oak that overhangs my fence, they are hanging branches so don't look very nice anyway.

Don't want the neighbour to see me trimming them.

Mollie, Haven't got the new inhaler yet, will see if O/H can pick it up for me.

Might wait till the next lot is required.

O/H's car has been really a good little car, just not my type at all, was after a small Diesel Auto 4x4 at a good price but haven't been able to track one down.

so many cars are either diesel and manual, or auto and petrol, or not 4x4.

I can't stand petrol as it can go up in flames, diesel won't, O/H hasn't got a license for manual, and i never feel safe in the winter in 2 wheel drive.

There are many winter conditions which without 4x4 you are in big trouble.

Emptybox, yes, not many more cuts of the grass, if any, it might grow if the weather stays not too cool.

Yes, i was surprised i had put on so much weight, mind you we live well.

Will have to take it easy or i'll be getting in trouble.

Yes, the rope on the pruner could be a problem, they have put a stronger thicker cord now.

I can only try it, i can fit the saw blade on if required, it's a good make anyway.

O/H's new Samsung tablet was only about ÂĢ199 and is so thin and light.

Hicky

Hi Hicky.

Nice day here as well. Quite warm this afternoon, and the grass wasn't too wet either.

Will probably have to work tomorrow to get caught up, as I'll be away for the first part of next week nephew/house sitting for my Brother.

Bit of a nuisance having to take days off before the season has finished, but his Mother-in-law (who was going to do it) has had a small stroke, and isn't well enough.

Remember you are supposed to offer the neighbour the bits you trimmed off their tree, as they technically belong to him, even though they overhang.

Mind you, doubt if anyone actually does that, and if they don't see you do it, they'll probably be none the wiser?

Wouldn't be surprised if Diesel cars become more scarce now they've found the manufacturers have been cheating the emission tests?

Watched '41 Dogs in a 3 Bed Semi' then the Gogglebox special.

I bet you will enjoy your Toby roast tomorrow.

OH was saying he fancies an automatic too, think I would find it a lot easier to drive, I never use the 5th gear, think it would confuse me too much. I don't drive far though any way.

Hope the weather if fine next week so you can trim away whilst the neighbour isn't around.

Emptybox

glad you too got the good weather. It was a bit cooler and cloudier here today, but dry at least. Hope you got some work done today. Shame looking after the nephew means you losing work time during your busy time. Hope your brother is grateful.

Watched the dancing, then watched Steph and Dom from Gogglebox on C4, very funny when they  interviewed Jason Donovan.

OH not in pain at all with kidney now, and hasn't been for a week now, so we hope it is sorted itself. He went to docs but it  didn't achieve anything, as doc  has referred OH back to hospital. OH said it's ridiculous to expect him to agree to an op when he has no symptoms at all now, they should check to see if it stil there. Doc said he had no authority to agree to a CAT scan to check though .No one anwered the phone at hospital clinic when we rang Friday though. He has to go back to work Monday as no work, no money, so hope he can sort hospital out by phone.

Goodnight both xx

M

Hi Mollie.

Hope your OH can sort out his operation.

Trouble is, the kidney stone could probably give him pain again at any time. It's unlikely to go itself. I would have thought he would have definitely have felt it if it had passed?

Is he still taking the Tamsolusin or have they decided that's not needed?

Not bad day here, cloudy but reasonably warm. Got 3 places done.

A few places are going to have to wait 3 weeks before being cut now, but they should be OK at this time of year, as the growth has slowed.

I'll be away till Wednesday afternoon. I'll have the internet, but I'll only have my tablet, which isn't very good for replies.

Still, I'll likely have free rein of the telly, as my nephew has his own one.

Don't suppose the dog will be fussy about what she watches?

Watched a bit of Steph and Dom, but turned over before they got to Jason Donovan. I find I don't actually like them all that much outside Gogglebox.

emptybox

Evening Both.

A cloudy day today, 14C, light wind.

Had a lovely Carvery with the gang.

They came back to our place after the meal.

I made another crumble, apple with raspberries and blackberries, very nice too.

Going to spray the trees tomorrow with copper fungicide, will spray again in Jan.

Emptybox, yes, a blow having to baby sit,

The tree i want to to prune isn't my neighbours, he just thinks it shouldn't be touched.

I don't know who owns it, it's it no-mans land, don't think there is a way into it.

I don't think the diesel market will change, they can make it run whichever way they want as it's controlled by software in a computer.

I wouldn't buy a petrol engine anyway,

See you when you get back then, have a good time, safe journey.

Mollie, Toby was fantastic as i said earlier.

If you don't use top gear it's costing you a lot in fuel and not really doing the engine much good, top gear brings your engine revs down to almost tickover speed depending how fast you are going, the car is a lot quieter as well.

Saw some of Steph & Dom, it was ok, nice place they have.

I think your O/H should be seen by the hospital, whatever the problem it rarely goes away, it's better to try and sort it now rather than later when it could becaome more serious.

Hicky
