That's Mr Bs sort of gardening

Mr Y hates gardening. He cuts the grass, under duress - and that's it.

Doesn't stop him offering "advice".,

Just like Mr B ! But if he gets the hedge trimmer out the plants need to beware

Do what I did....get rid of the hedge and build a fence, then bin the hedge trimmers.

I love Monty Don however I'm not altogether sure of his advice.

In the Sunday Mail magazine he advised a reader not to even try controlling slugs and snails (he omitted puppy dog's tails .. perhaps for another issue) and advised not to stock tender plants  but replace with woody varieties only.

Wouldn't this mean the almost extinction of some plants if we all follow this advice?

He also said as insecticides were indiscriminate that we shouldn't spray our roses.

Well I haven't in the past and all of them almost died. Now I spray and the roses are amazing!

So following Monty's advice my garden would be full of disease and pests but no plants.

Rather we should look for a reasonable organic middle ground, surely??

He does try to garden using organic methods.

What was his reason for not stocking tender plants??
