I'm not a huge football fan but can't help thinking how splendid it would be if Leicester could pull it off, as it were.

To be honest, I think it is more a case of when Leicester pull it off.

With Arsenal drawing at West Ham and Man City too far behind, that only leaves Tottingham Hotspur and they just don't seem to be putting in enough wins to close or even maintain the gap.

EDIT: I made my Tottingham comment before their 3-0 win over Manure, just going to show how bloomin' strange fotty can be.

Full set of games tonight EC! Good luck in pulling away even further!

Yes and we made hard work of beating Blackburn. Not that we did not create enough chances, it just seemed that all the players wanted to walk the ball in!

Then.

Down at Bristol they thump us 4-1. It did not help our cause that we gave away an own goal and penalty early on, still you won't find me complaining too much as it's been an excellent season.

Is this true?

You could have got 5000/1 for Leicester to win the Premiership at the beginning of the season?

I thought it was 1000/1 ?  Anyways... Colin Murray on Talksport said you could've got the same odds for Elvis being alive !!!

Great story isn't it Moonie

Edit: it was indeed 5000/1!!!! So sorry  *coff*

Indeed! Most of our fans have written us off for this season. I have to say that I was praying for a miracle to stop us going up and we seem to have one. Though I wouldn't mind another trip to Wembley.

It's bitter sweet in the prem.  A financial pot of gold for the continued financial well being of the club v being the whipping boys of the division.

Still, Bournemouth and Watford have done well.  Norwich much less so - as few would argue that Norwich aren't the biggest of those clubs.

Then again, look at Zero-hours-Loan Shark United and their 'don't call us Geordies' Geordie kin.  Then there's Villa.  I'm sure they're relegating themselves out of shame for being associated with our useless PM.

It's all getting a bit close. I do like winning games and am looking forward to visiting Bolton on Saturday and Burnleh on Tuesday night. Hopefully if we do get automatic promotion then someone will come up with a reason for us not going up. I remain hopeful of a Wem-ber-Lee visit but.

I have said for sometime that I think you are good for automatic and I don't have any thoughts on changing that opinion.

As for us, even if we make the playoffs I consider 2 other teams are much stronger than us. We will end up in 6th spot and to play the 3rd spot team is a big ask.

Sheffield Wednesday 1 - 1 Ipswich

Well, the word of the day is 'FRUSTRATED'. Frustrated that we did not take the hatful of chances presented and in so doing put the game out of reach of what can only be described as an agricultural Ipswich.

To allow what felt like their only real chance on goal count was disappointing in the extreme.

Poor support from Ipswich - I counted them 368 !!

Should have been a much better result and probably an indication as to why I don't think we are ready to contest the playoffs this year.

Silver lining, Cardiff also drew.

I'm setting off for Burnley shortly, my last away game of the season. I'm dead excited and hoping for a win although we probably won't and I think given everyone's fixtures it probably doesn't matter.

Still hoping for a miracle along the lines of, "yes you won the league but are disqualified for playing Diego Fabrini in a cup game!" or something of that nature.

Sheffield Wednesday 0 - 0 MK Dons

Well that was another frustrating match. First half we could not break through despite creating chances and hitting the woodwork. They (MK Dons) quite unsurprisingly are desperate for points, so anything they can do to slow the game and get a point they did. The ref was in love with his whistle, if I had a pound for each time he used, well, I would be going out for a very nice meal this weekend replete with posh fizzy water!

Second half was a different affair, Carlos changed the side immediately, whipping off Lopez and pushing Nuhiu into the fray from the kickoff. It worked a treat, MK Dons did not suss the change in formation and we were again creating plenty of opportunities again. Hitting the woodwork again in the second half. The ref continued to enjoy his whistle and the bookings started to come, but it was a booking that triggered the dismissal of Ross Wallace. Forestieri was fouled on the edge of the box, was booked and further over the field under the nose of the linesman, Ross Wallace decided to do something that would inevitably ensure he was taking an early bath.

Play resumed and NOW, NOW, MK Dons decided to stop with the time wasting and try and take advantage of 10 men. Well it did not work as we had plenty of possession and still created more chances.

I'm never pleased when teams resort to time wasting at every opportunity, trying to get players booked and fainting injury. I'm not displeased to not be playing them next season and we gave the 60 MK Dons fans (pathetic) a great send off with an appropriate tune which turned to a wall of boos for the officials.

Rant over

I'll be back for the Cardiff game.

I had a lovely 24 hours in Burnley. The most unusual incident took place when the Burnley fans sang, "Town full of paedos, you're just a town full of paedos!" at our good selves. Probably a fair call and to be honest on my Burnley town walkabout this morning I saw no evidence of incest or general interbreeding amongst the locals. The fact that the rest of Lancashire call them "Dingles" seems badly misplaced.

(more world class sarcasm from me and of course I am unable to mention our snappy reposte on a family website such as this)

i did hear that 6000 odd watched the Burnley game on-screen at the Riverside last night.

Sheffield Wednesday 3 - 0 Cardiff City

What a strange tactic from Cardiff. They really needed to win, but instead of putting us under pressure from minute one, they kinda sat back and let us have plenty of the ball and apply the pressure ourselves. It really felt like they had come for a draw or they were going to try and sneak a goal then hang on for dear life.

Fortunately it did not work and we created a lot of chances, putting three of them in, guaranteeing our playoff place.

We filled all three sides of the stadium and Cardiff, well they brought a few supporters. Still just short of 32,000 and a great atmosphere, a fun day and I enjoyed the player on the pitch after. Nice way to end the season at home.

Congrats to Leicester City for their fantastic achievement in shaking up the Premier League in a way that (I'd imagine) most of us thought could no longer happen!

While the Canaries' season has been a disappointment with far too many no-shows in crucial matches, it's great to see a similar sized club show what could be possible with the right signings and the right management!
