I'm exhausted. Up most of the night and then did the lawns and had a bike ride before the rain. Luckily we had paid for our holidays and bought loads of euros before the result. We were fine until Cameron's speech which was when Mrs Jer lost it and had a good weep. An honourable man - hats off to him for not doing what the rest of us would do!

I think we now enter the crisis of hegemony stage, the break up of the Union, further destabilisation of L'Europe, Putin probably chancing his arm with the Baltic states. On a lower level, the loss of markets and a struggling economy. On an even lower level the confidence of racists and bigots to use the sort of language they used to me on the doorsteps.

One can almost hear e Basil Fawlty say, "otherwise OK?"

Well,  to bring some balance to the argument , I am pleased with the result And no , I am not racist , nor did I want to take the bread out of the mouths of my kids and grandkids ( I mean really, why would I ! ) I just wanted to regain a degree of control ( albeit a small degree) over those making decisions on my behalf . And as for it being the *selfish  grey vote*  what dunnit ....with over 17 million voting Leave ...that doesn't make sense either

Well said Baz, nothing wrong with wanting laws that affect our country to be made by our own parliament and for our Courts to have the final say over justice in this country.  We have a long history of British justice of which I think we can be justifiably proud.  And as a matter of fact we never signed up to or agreed to any of the changes that were made in our name.

I watched the Nigel Farage Susanna Reid interview.  She jumped down his throat (a man who had been up all night long) and threw accusations at him.  He replied, quite rightly, that it was up to those in government how the money saved would be allocated.  She was determined to call him a liar. Speaking for myself I would have liked to see some less biased interviewing, especially in view of the result.

Good post GJ.

I'm so sad at the amount of people I've seen on the TV today from other EU countries that live and work (and pay their taxes) in this country that say they now feel threatened and intimidated

And also I saw someone on the TV tonight being interviewed in the street, that said she voted out but she didn't know why

And how crazy is it that you vote without understanding why you are voting that way!!!

It's the young people I feel sorry for.  They have been, in my opinion, well and truly shafted

Just saw on C4 News that 73% of under-24s voted to stay. Seeing as #NotIinMyName has been trending today, they're not happy about it either...

Well, Brexiters cost the country ÂĢ250 bn today and for what?  To stick it to the establishment?  Brexiters and Tory voters should pay that money back!

They stuck it to the establishment by voting for another Bullingdon Boy as the next PM.  One even worse than the cretin who was already in the job.   By voting for a public school educated, elitist, ex-Tory banker son of a banker.  A pub bore racist too fond of the drink.

They're all concerned about 'immigration'.  They can be concerned about immigration in the dole queue when the car industry and what's left of British manufacturing pulls out, as it will.

I had a few tears this morning over the result. I feel genuine sadness about the whole thing.

I don't believe for one minute that all 17 million Leave voters are racist ( I certainly know that Bazzy isn't!!!     . ).... but the following set of tweets I just read, pretty much sum up my feelings on the matter...

"I know there are legitimate fears and concerns behind . But I also know that too many bigots are way too happy to see it happen".

"If your decision is disproportionately supported by hordes of loud bigoted idiots, shouldn't that at least give you some pause?"

I live in Boston, a town with a very very large Eastern European population .... I hear the bigots on the streets everyday, I have to work with bigots.... yesterday approximately 75% of this town voted to leave. I think those facts speak for themselves regarding what this vote was truly about for some people.

I feel completely and utterly ashamed to live here

You have my sympathy, but you can't call them racists, that just won't do in the new political climate at all!   You're labelling them as racists and ignoring their concerns.  You have to invade Poland and sport a toothbrush moustache to qualify as a racist, these days.

I am so sorry Amy

I have no idea what we've achieved, I truly have no idea.

We have decided to leave because we want our Country back...from what,  from where and from whom?

Brussels did not decide domestic policies, Brussels did not make European Union policies. Twenty eight counties discussed policies and we were represented by our Euro MP's that we voted for and we could have used out veto. That is of course unless you voted in a UKIP euro MP that lived quite happily off the wages and never turned up for votes.

We now have to pay to trade in Europe, we now have to accept to have free movement of labour within Europe without any say whatsoever. I am totally baffled and and sad and truly scared of the rise of the likes of Britain First and EDL again.

I was also appalled by the statement made by Farage.. I can't put it into words on a public forum what I think of him without being banned.

Like Ducky I am thoroughly ashamed to live here and have done for quite a while, I'm desperately sad and scared for my children, grandchildren and friends I have here that are not British. Two are lecturers and one a businessman and all three are feeling alienated and have done in the run up to the vote.  I don't for one minute think all the people that voted leave are racist, what I do know is all racist voted leave.

We now have Boris dictating when we leave the union 2018 he was bandering about and I'm at a loss as to when he was voted leader of the Conservative party, unless I missed it in the fog of despair this morning. This was never about leaving the EU for him, it was about the Tory leadership....god help us all.

It's done now and nothing I or anyone says will make one iota of difference, I just hope my head isn't between my legs kissing my ar*e goodbye.

Carnelian , are you really saying you believe that 17 million people are thick , useless,  racist bigots ? Cos , with the greatest respect , that's how it's coming across .

Well let's look at the result.  They've got their way by listening to and voting with a xenophobic a pub bore racist and a load of liars who have based their whole campaign on 30 years of right wing dripping tap xenophobia, anti intellectualism and lies.  Don't trust the 'experts' trust a pub bore!  Some even think they've stuck it to the establishment.

The very least those 17 million can do for wrecking this country's economy is pay the ÂĢ250 bn back in extra taxes, don't you think?

Are they thick racist bigots? Well no, not as such, but you can judge a person by the company they keep and who they agree with.
