sprooty just caught your posts re holidays - I don't get paid for holiday s- if I don't work I don't get paid but I I have the option to put by a percentage of my earnings as holiday pay  with the agencies umberella services (which I pay for) as they do my tax and insurance)- I then request my holiday pay at the end of term for example -

It means getting paid or not though, the jobs I've worked in have always paid me for my holidays and not lost the time, not this one

You have to work to accumulate holidays. They don't give you holidays in advance  Even Lynds at the hospital had to work to gain holidays

Yes

Which I have done. I just can't get my head around the way it comes off your entitlement, paid or unpaid. Am I really that thick after all the years I've worked since leaving school?

See, maybe that's my problem. I've always been ok with what I've taken as holidays and been paid for them as is normal.

Now, if I want a Bank Holiday off, I have to apply for it (if I want it paid) and if it's paid it comes off my holiday hours or if I don't apply it will be taken off my hours without pay

I've put the link in for holiday entitlement and you could check, maybe agency workers don't have the same rights concerning bank holidays because they are casual

I don't get paid for bank holidays - no work = no pay

If you have a 120 hours and you take that in five days then you have used that week up surely.

Right, so I've got about 57 and some odd hours at the minute I think. I have to apply for the Bank Holiday at the end of the month if I want it paid which will come off my 57 and some odd hours   I can take those hours if I don't get the application in, in time but it will be unpaid but not come off my 57 plus some odd hours

same here sprooty - its an agency thing - perhaps they will give you a contract - then you would have more rights

I don't know how bank holidays work for agency workers, I have put the link in for you to check. If you take a day off those hours it will come off because those hours are you're actually holiday days you have. If you were on a permanent contract you would accumulate holiday days in your first year, second year you would probably get your full holiday entitlement.

I think it would Wozzer, but with the crap that's going on now in NPS, they give with one hand and take with the other

well, why are you not applying at other places

Because, the number of places I've applied to in the past don't want to know and I'm thinking, for the years I have left it's better to stick with what I have, and try to get out when I can

it's easier to get into work when you're working than unemployed and if you don't try how do you know, nothing lost applying.
