I've been really struggling to beat it with a fictional character. I managed to get past first guess with both Biggles and Dougal from the Magic Roundabout (it guessed Horatio Hornblower and Elmo respectively), but it got them on its second attempt (and to be fair, the answers it was expecting for Dougal were a bit questionable: Is he really British? Does he really have legs?).
However, I got annoyed with the database again over Alice (from the Wonderland stories). It guessed her correctly, but the game record said it doesn't think she has a sister! 
I blame the cultural dominance of the movie versions...
I beat it. It did not guess Ann Lawton, character in the movie P'Tang Yang Kipperbang.
